Picnics. What's not to love? They bring together the best things in life: food, friends and family. But best of all, picnics involve being out in the fresh air
A picnic doesn't have to be a posh affair. I find a lunchtime sandwich and a bench with a view can nourish the spirit as much as the body. Equally a picnic with hampers, grand hams and the full dining caboodle can be a wonderful way to mark a big birthday or family event.
