If walking your favourite coastal path or Lakeland fell has taken its toll on your feet and ankles -
then the OOcandoo from recovery footwear brand Oofos might be right up your street.
This versatile footwear is made from the brand’s proprietary OOfoam technology that claims to absorb 37% more impact than traditional footwear foams and have a patented footbed design that cradles and supports the arches.
Oofos suggest they are best worn post-hike where their optimal combination of cushioning and stability can help ease muscle fatigue, pain and soreness, but I think they are equally wearable out on the trail by helping to reduce load and stress on the foot.
OOcandoo are a closed-toe shoe - so no fear of stubbing your toes if wearing them on a hike - but with a series of holes for breathability, they are more like a sandal. And they have a sturdy hook and latch strap for a secure fit.
Our tester loved the versatile hybrid design and found them a comfortable footwear choice for wear at the campsite and a lighter option for walking in hot weather, while still giving support and foot protection.
Made from one-piece, injection moulded foam means they don’t absorb water (or sweat) and will float, so canoeists, paddleboarders and boaters will find them a useful additional to their kitbag too.
The OOcandoo is lightweight, packable and machine washable.
