With its new 5008, Peugeot looks to tackle higher-end car marques head on. STUART KIDMAN gives his verdict on it

Thanks to its seven-seat option, Peugeot’s all-new 5008 can mix it with some of the big boys. A friend admitted when he saw me driving the 5008 that he “thought it was a Landy”, such is the overall impression it gives in both initial looks and size. And with a high quality finish and cute little extras such as a massaging driver’s seat, the French manufacturer has created a car that might arguably contend with vehicles at the top end of the large family car market. But surely, for a measly £31,245, it can’t be as good as a Land Rover Discovery can it? Well, of course not.
