Mersey Gateway Bridge consultation
Halton Borough Council and the Mersey Gateway Crossings Board (MGCB) have launched a consultation to obtain views on proposed changes to Mersey Gateway Bridge toll charges.
The Club is specifically raising interest to its members around the changes for motorhomes or campervans and towing trailers. If the changes are agreed it will see correctly registered “Motor Caravans” toll class lowered from class three to class two for toll purposes which will bring this bridge in line with many other toll crossings in the UK. It would then require a lower fee (currently £2) per crossing compared to the current charge of £6 for a class three vehicle. In addition any trailer (or caravan) towed by a class two vehicle will remain in that class for toll purposes.
Ian Hewlett the Club’s Technical Manager said: “We are urging our members to take part in the consultation before the deadline on the 29th March 2018 even if you’re not from the Mersey area to support the lowered toll classes for motorhomes and trailers."
To take part use the following link http://www.merseygateway.co.uk/consultation2018 and email the completed form to consultation@merseygateway.co.uk or complete the online form.
The consultation is planned to finish on the 29 March 2018.
