Club invests £7.5 million into Site network
The Camping and Caravanning Club has committed a record-breaking £7.5 million to its campsite network over the winter to make camping on its Club Sites an even better experience in 2018.
The Club has never spent more than this on upgrading and improving Club Sites in a single year. There are 106 Club Sites around the UK and the proceeds raised through campers staying on them is being reinvested to carry out works. These include the addition of new hardstanding pitches, improving access roads and building and improving on-site amenity blocks to make campers’ arrival and stay even more memorable.
The Club’s Sites Director, Bob Hill, explained: “We’ve had a successful year that has seen more people than ever join and camp with us on our sites, which means we’re able to inject the surplus back into our sites network. That enables us to build new facilities and improve existing ones for the enjoyment of campers, both members of the Club and non-members.”
One beneficiary of the Club’s ongoing improvement programme is Bakewell Club Site in the heart of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. This site recently benefitted from the addition of a new access road constructed over the last year and it is now far easier for campers to reach and enjoy nearby attractions such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the hills and valleys of the national park.
Four key site upgrades
While the majority of Club Sites will benefit from small-scale improvements, larger capital works are planned for four specific sites.
- New reception buildings will be installed at Cambridge (1) and Kelvedon Hatch Club Sites (2)
- Horsley Club Site gets a new amenity block and refurbishments to its on-site reception (3)
- New motorhome service points will be installed at Milarrochy Bay (4) and Kelvedon Hatch Club Sites (2)
