Club Site staff raise cash for local Air Ambulance
As well as ensuring the smooth running of Keswick Club Site in Cumbria, Holiday Site Managers Suzan and Simon Hill have been working hard to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
The £365 raised by the couple in 2016 was well received by the GNAAS, and although pleased with the amount, the couple were determined to better it. By the end of last year Suzan and Simon had raised an impressive £1,000.
Suzan said: “We raised the money by having a wishing well at the entrance to the site reception. We also held caravan boot sales during the season – all of the items sold were donated by staff, campers and even our mums.”
The icing on the cake according to Suzan was the site’s Christmas lights switch-on. Suzan said: “We asked campers to guess how many lights were in our display, they paid £1 a go, and the nearest received prizes. That got us to £1,000.”
The couple were invited to the GNAAS headquarters in Penrith to meet the crew and see the helicopter. Suzan added: “These guys deserve medals for what they do, and it is a very worthy charity. Without donations they could not do what they do. It was a fantastic day and we loved every minute of it.”
Suzan and Simon aim to better their total again this year. If you’re planning to camp at Keswick this season, please ask how you can get involved.
