VisitWales reveals touring route inspiration
VisitWales has revealed three national scenic touring routes designed to inspire visitors to experience the country’s varied and historic landscape.
The Wales Way comprises three separate routes – The Coastal Way, The Cambrian Way and The North Wales Way – that VisitWales claim pack in more than 6,000 years of history, epic landscapes and stunning coastlines.
The Coastal Way (A487) travels 180 miles along the wild and rugged coastline of the west coast of Wales, running around Cardigan Bay from Aberdaron to St Davids. The Cambrian Way (A470) focuses on the Welsh countryside and tracks 185 miles between Llandudno and Cardiff, winding through both Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons National Park. The North Wales Way (A55) is shorter at 75 miles in length, but a route rich with history including two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, also offering a gateway to Snowdonia and Anglesey.
All three routes can easily be enjoyed by campers, with Llanystumdwy, Cardigan Bay, St Davids, Bala and Rhandirmwyn Club Sites all offering convenient stop-off points on or close by to them. VisitWales says they are also suitable to be enjoyed by rail, by cycling, on foot or even on horseback.
