Lunar bought out of administration
The business and assets of Preston-based caravan manufacturer Lunar Caravans have been bought out of administration by new owner Lunar Automotive Limited.
Nicholas Marks, Managing Director of Lunar Automotive, said: “We are delighted to have acquired Lunar, we look forward to working with the team, suppliers and customers as we build on this well-respected brand.”
The new company was registered with Companies House on 1 August, a few weeks after Lunar Caravans Limited went into administration. It is described as a ‘manufacturer of caravans’ with one director, Nicholas Marks, a 52-year-old accountant, whose other directorship is of MEWA Holdings Limited.
For members who own a Lunar caravan or motorhome, customers should contact their dealer regarding aftersales and warranty work.
This positive news follows a turbulent month in which the press launch for Lunar Caravans’ 2020 caravan and motorhome models, scheduled for 9 July, was postponed and production was suspended. Sadly, 124 redundancies were then made before the factory’s planned summer shutdown.
Lunar’s name was inspired by the Apollo 11 mission to land men on the moon, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
