Tori James, the youngest British woman to climb Everest aged 25 in 2007, and Alan Hinkes, the only British mountaineer to claim all 14 Himalayan mountains above 8,000m, took part in the launch.

The Club’s Simon McGrath said: “The photographs show us how these early Club members camped, and what equipment they used. They also give us a glimpse into the camaraderie of the campsite.”

Catch the exhibition at Plas Y Brenin National Outdoor Centre in Snowdonia National Park from 12 July to 8 August. It’s open midday to 6pm, and admission is free.
