Go west in Glasgow
This June, Glasgow will host its annual West End Festival, where more than 100 local and international organisations will come together to put on a wide range of art-based activities and events across the city.
The West End Festival celebrates everything from music to history, theatre, dance, film and more. There will also be a number of talks and workshops throughout the month, plus guided walks and tours through the most vibrant and historic parts of the city.

A classic day out
The Classic and Performance Car Spectacular will return to Tatton Park in Cheshire this June, showcasing the very best in classic cars.
The show is attended by various car clubs who specialise in restoring and maintaining cars from the golden age of motoring, including favourites such as BMWs and Jaguars. Attendees will have the opportunity to see an estimated 2,000 vehicles on display, as well as check out the autojumble where they can meet specialist suppliers. Another feature of the show is the car mart with many more trade stalls and various entertainment acts.

Man vs beast
For those looking for something a little different, how about going head-to-head with a beast? Runners will flock to Llanwrtyd Wells in Powys to take on the Whole Earth Man v Horse marathon – a unique event in which those on foot race those on horseback across the hilly terrain of central Wales. The race draws hundreds of spectators every year, since its launch in 1980, and there is a cash prize of £3,000 for the runner who beats the first horse to the end.

8-9 June
Saddle up
Visit Castle Howard near York for a weekend of action as The Knights of Royal England host their much-anticipated Jousting Tournament.
The knights will race along on horseback while fully kitted out in traditional armour using modern lances to battle one-on-one.
The show includes music, commentary, introductions to the knights, and plenty of fanfare. In addition to the fights, falls and full-throttle action, the show is also known for being highly historically accurate.

14-16 June
Outdoor family fun
Revel in your love of the countryside at the Royal Three Counties Show this month. Held at the Three Counties Showground in Worcestershire, the event is guaranteed to have something for everyone, no matter what aspect of the rural life draws you in, be it the stunning greenery or furry critters.
Entertainment will include dog agility courses, a thrilling inter-hunt relay challenge, show jumping and hot air balloons. Be sure not to miss The Red Devils, a world-renowned parachuting team, which will be performing spectacular free falls.

22-23 June
The sky’s the limit
Don’t miss the Weston Air Festival taking place at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, this June. This free event is part of the Armed Forces Weekend, which celebrates the contributions and accomplishments of the British Armed Forces. The air show, which was originally a one-day event but due to popular demand now covers the entire weekend, will see Red Arrows, Chinooks, and even Spitfires shooting through the skies above the sea-front.

Take up the challenge
The Mourne International Walking Festival is set to welcome walkers of all ages and abilities to Northern Ireland this year.
Taking place in Newcastle, County Down, the walks on offer cover some of the most beautiful but challenging areas of the Mourne Mountains, known for their dramatic granite peaks. A number of different walks will be available for all ages and abilities, the majority between 10km and 40km (6 and 24 miles).
In addition to taking in the sights, these walks are also fantastic for making friends, improving fitness and experiencing the great outdoors.

Cycle in the tracks of heroes
Norwich city centre will this month play host to the Great British Cycling Festival, the UK’s only cycling event of its kind. Not only will the event host the National Road Championships for both men and women, but there is also the chance to cycle in their tracks in the British Cycling Challenge 100 – a 100-mile closed road event where amateur cyclists can have a go at tackling the same intense path through Norfolk as their cycling heroes.

5-7 July
Fun in the forest
Experience the restorative and relaxing power of forests at Timber Festival – a unique gathering of music, poetry, art, philosophy and entertainment at Fearnedock in the New Forest this summer. The festival’s full programme includes an appearance from stand-up comedian and actor Phil Jupitus.
