Have a wild night out this June
A campaign supported by Ordnance Survey is encouraging people to enjoy the benefits of outdoor adventures by taking part in a national Wild Night Out on 29 June.
Seven official Wild Night Out camp-outs will be held at Youth Hostel Association wilderness campsites in Cornwall, the Lake District, the Brecon Beacons, the South Downs, Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and the New Forest with adventure talks, walks and bushcraft at each.
The events will cost £10 per person to camp at, but if you can’t make one, the campaign also encourages you to host your own – whether that’s in the wilderness, a Club meet, campsite, or your own back garden.
By using the hashtag #WildNightOut2019 in your social media, you can share and collate ideas to encourage and support others to get outside and get active. The website wildnightout.org has lots more information as well as inspiration about activities you can take part in to celebrate the event – if camping in the wilderness isn’t your thing you could try going night cycling, kayaking a river by torchlight or spotting twilight nature such as bats and foxes.
