The Motorhome and Caravan Show 2018 is up-and-running and if you’re thinking of heading over to the NEC before it ends on Sunday, here are some of our suggestions of the most interesting things we’ve seen so far.
1. A slice of history
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the famous Eccles caravan name – and you can see the limited edition 100th anniversary range on the Beacon Fell stand in all its glory. If you remember the old Eccles caravans, or if you are a history buff of any sort, then you’ll be able to delight in getting up-close to the 1938 Eccles President that Swift also has on display to mark the anniversary.
2. Bonkers for Bianchi
If cycling is a hobby you enjoy while camping or caravanning, then make sure you check out the fantastic range of Bianchi electric bikes while you’re on the Swift stand. Cycling retailer Beacon Fell has teamed up with Swift at the NEC to showcase a wide range of bikes from the leading Italian brand – there’s something for every price point and use.
3. Lunar luxury
Lunar has revealed three new models of a top-end caravan at the show this year: the Alaria. The caravan is eight feet wide and features nice touches like a five foot-wide transverse island bed in the TI model. It’s got a luxurious feel throughout and also features a large side window at the front that allows plenty of light to flood into the spacious lounge area.
4. Get yourself some bling
Campervan converter Hillside always has a busy stand at the NEC show, but this year there are one or two stand-out units that have really attracted attention. One example is the Birchover Executive – a ‘pimped up’ version of the popular Birchover model that boasts an interior of glossy black, dark hardwood and slick black leather seating, combined with sporty red styling and aggressive alloy wheels on the outside.
5. A van with ‘Knaus’
German brand Knaus is showing off a new version of the modular Deseo caravan, the most striking feature of which is the large vertically opening door at the rear. It remains focused at an active style of camping with anchor points for bikes and motorbikes, a stowable flatscreen television and sizeable washroom at the front of the ’van.
