The surrounding area

Pitch up at our Salisbury Club campsite and you’re ideally situated to visit some of Wiltshire’s best known attractions. Described as the city in the countryside, Salisbury is just a mile-and-a half riverside walk away. Justly famous for its cathedral, home to the famous Magna Carta, and its Close, this bustling market town also boasts attractive timbered buildings, a thriving market, popular Salisbury racecourse, museums and some of England’s finest historic houses.

The area is also well-known for the ancient monument at Stonehenge. Avebury, 19 miles to the north is another less crowded prehistoric site. Old Wardour Castle is also worth a visit.

Take a tour of Wilton House west of Salisbury, set in eight hectares of grounds. Longleat, Beaulieu and the National Motor Museum and popular theme park Paultons are a great family days out from the campsite.

New wardens this season, and a lot of work has been done.

This review is for Salisbury

New wardens this season, and a lot of work has been done. The updates don’t feel quite finished as some of the hard standing pitches didn’t have electricity hook up with in reach using 25 meter cable. Warden seemed frustrated with the situation. Really hope they get teething probs sorted as this is one of our local sites which we love to escape to , plus our labradoodle loves Hudson’s field and we love that you are so close to Salisbury

We arrived to find a narrow single file entrance/exit - fortunately no one was leaving, it could have been difficult passing traffic. Bins next to site very smelly. Staff friendly and toilets etc clean and new. However we were disappointed as we had hoped for a rural setting, however there is a scout hut/hall behind one side of the site, houses to the other sides. Nice view of old Sarum. Pitches seemed close together. Handy for Salisbury.

Good site to break a journey between Devon and Kent.

This review is for Salisbury

Good site to break a journey between Devon and Kent. Easy to get to and great for a short walk into the city. Originally booked for two days but although I called and left a message in the morning of the first night, I was called in the evening and when I said I had left a message, I was told "Well, I have been here all day and no messages have been left so you will have to pay for both nights anyway"! So slightly dissapointed with "The Friendly Club"
