    Great site for families

Enjoy the thrills of camping near Alton Towers and the beautiful Peak District from this Club Site.

The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club campsite. If you are looking for Alton Towers camping, this attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed, being just a mile from the theme park. Similarly those who enjoy heading off into the great outdoors will not be disappointed with some great walking country right on the doorstep.

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.

While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of The Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is available at this campsite.

Worth Noting

Caravan holiday homes and Self Catering holidays available. Super Service pitches overlook the play area. If towing, approach the site from the North, avoid travelling through Cheadle. All grass pitches are sloping - levelling blocks will be required.

Eat Local

Denstone Hall Farm Shop and Café, located in a barn, sells Farm's own beef as well as local vegetables, cheeses, cakes, gifts and beers from some of the region's best independent suppliers. The Star Pub is 500 yrds from the site entrance.

The Alton site is very isolated.

This review is for Alton, The Star

The Alton site is very isolated. The only attraction is Alton Towers which is just over a mile away.If you want peace and quiet come here during the week like we did.A very relaxing time indeed. I do agree with some reviews that the wardens are not very customer focused. The office staff in particular. They just don't seem interested at all.Every time we went to the office the staff seemed to be more interested in searching websites not related to work rather than dealing with our questions. Don't think some of them deserve to work for the club at all and let some wardens in who are professional in their approach especially regarding customer service. The Star Pub is very good.We spent quite some time having a walk then stopping here for a drink or two.We found some very quaint villages in the area.Alton itself is beautiful with an extraordinary church.Oakamoor is a short walk away which also has its own pub and is also charming. Therefore, the site is not just about Alton Towers you'll find yourself on a different adventure every day if you like walking.

A beautifully kept site and the wardens were always cleaning, mowing or working keeping the site looking so well. We were there with 2 young children (4&5) who absolutely loved the park. Slight downside was that we couldn't see the park from our pitch so couldn't allow them to play on their own. There are a few pitches that overlook the park but fairly sure they are either super service or tent pitches. Best to check if you need this. Hardstanding pitches are quite level and you'll need hard rock pegs. Some grass pitches are flat but most are sloped. Toilets and showers were always clean and there is a family room. Showers are small but always hot water and functional. Plenty of drinking water and waste water points around and 1 elsan point by the bins which is fairly central. All in all a fantastic site about a mile from Alton towers. Will definitely be returning.

First time l have come to this site and probably the last if the wardens are her again next year.Very unfriendly from start to finish. Don't think they like people in tents as l was treated as a hindrance. My electric tripped out several times one evening.Initially, a warden came out to assist me but after that l could not get hold of anybody. Apparently, staff are on duty till 11pm here but they were nowhere to be found.I did find out later the following day that the staff were out partying. A very unprofessional set up in my opinion and not very customer focused.I did complain but apparently it wasn't considered an emergency. Probably more important for the wardens to have a party than actually monitor the site.Overall though, the site is brilliant with great facilities, great views and a pub down the road that l would highly recommend. We will come back, probably next year with better customer focused wardens.

booked in for 5 nights the staff were polite on arrival we were given the combination to gate so we could come and go as we pleased we were shown to our pitch.. we was not so lucky our pitch which was on a slope some caravans looked like they were about to tip over as ground is very unlevel no buses unfortunatley to Alton Towers if you have no transport .there is one local pub which did NOT allow dogs only in the garden as served food (not good in this weather to be sitting outside with your dog in the sun and 23 deg's ) we ate at the star pub and cant fault it was lovely food, there are 2 bus stops at bottom of the site but NO BUSES run through this village.we only found this out on arrival. not good and not happy as nearest village 4 miles away and when booked this site we was not told via the club that the buses aren't running no more maybe they should let people know this or at least put on a free bus to Alton towers there are only so many times you can visit the same pub so it spoilt our stay I feel very disappointed with this..the only good thing was the day 2 days at alton towers. shower blocks could do with a good update as nothing worked being disabled on the 1st day after drivivg 350 miles I was hoping for a good hot shower but there were cold in the disabled block so with some help from my helper of I trot to the shower block only to find they were cold never mind early the next morning I had another go only to find that that the same again so go to the office to report it to be told ok we will get that fixed next morn the same and so on till I left so from the time I left my home till the time I got back again all I could wash with was a kettle of hot this day and age you would think that a shower would be electric. please take note if you don't have a car or a bike you are stuck in a village with not even a shop.would we stay again NO...

“A group of friends and myself stayed at this site for 3 nights. The site were brilliant and accommodating with our requests. The wardens were really friendly and chatty. The self catering caravan we stayed in was immaculate and even blankets were in the wardrobes which was good as the evenings were a little chilly. No complaints about the 'van and within 5 mins drive of Alton Towers (our main reason for the choice of site) As with any other club site, I would not hesitate in recommending this site or returning, I'm already planning a return trip next year!”

The holiday caravans are just one mile away from the theme park, meaning the whole family can enjoy a great value break!
