Tranquillity close to the heart of England on a campsite in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This Club campsite sits on the edge of one the Midlands’ most popular beauty spots, Cannock Chase. A combination of natural deciduous woodland, coniferous plantations and open heathland the Chase – England’s smallest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – offers boundless adventure and fun for walkers, mountain bikers and dog lovers alike and is perfectly located for exploring the attractions of Cannock, Lichfield, Birmingham and the surrounding area.

Our pretty campsite here is well laid out and bordered by trees. It offers level hardstanding pitches, while grass pitches tend to be sloping. In addition to showers and toilets, the site offers washing up facilities, a site shop offering basic provisions and a family room and there is direct access from the site onto the Chase.

The Chase is definitely the big appeal of this site. As well as its bountiful wildlife, it offers endless walking and miles of exhilarating mountain bike trails, including the famous Follow the Dog trail and new Monkey Trail, which start from Birches Valley Forest Centre.

If you'd like to go glamping then Cannock Chase Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Worth Noting

All grass pitches are sloping, chocks will be required. Very poor TV and mobile phone reception. There's also a bike wash facility and a play area for children.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora or fauna. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

The Park Gate Inn serves locally-sourced food. Several Farmers Markets within driving distance. Chetwynd Arms serves local food.

My husband, our two dogs and myself had a lovely time staying here. Lynda and her staff were very welcoming and friendly. Lynda went the extra mile to get us a dry pitch following the awful weather they have had recently. Lovely level pitch, right next to the dog walk which is excellent. Really big woodland area with great off lead roaming. Facilities were lovely. Thank you and we will see you again!

The problems of the adjoining house and the barking dogs has apparently been an issue for a long time with both the rspca and the police being aware of the situation but seemingly unable to do anything to stop the dogs barking The dogs appear to live outside in the grounds of the house on a permanent basis We do feel sorry for the dogs as they too must be very unhappy It’s such a pity as it is a lovely site but we were glad to go home to get some much needed sleep We won’t be returning to the site The club needs to sort it out

Arrived late Friday evening (10pm) and was welcomed by Cliff who was fantastic and went above and beyond his call of duty to ensure we was able to pitch up. The campsite was clean and well presented and we had a thoroughly nice weekend!!! Up until the point my wife decided to have a look at one of the Glampling tents as the friends we went to visit said that next time we come up, maybe they would hire it for the duration and we could all enjoy our time together a bit more! When my wife walked over to it (it looked empty) she suddenly heard the male assistant warden (not Cliff) say, quite abruptly "er, excuse me, excuse me, oi, you can't just walk over and start walking round that tent, someone's renting that till tomorrow!!!" At this point, she wasn't walking around it, she was in front of it and hadn't even started to ascend the stairs up to the decking bit" She did say "I'm not walking round it, I'm just looking at it with a view to maybe hiring it at some point" Again, he replied like she was a naughty child being told off, "well you can't just walk around the tent". To say my wife was annoyed and to be honest a bit embarrassed was an understatement!! When she returned to our pitch she told me what he had happened so I said did she want me to say something? And she said yes ok! I called him and said "was there any need to talk to my wife like a child and tell her off for looking." His response was to try and justify himself and say that he didn't tell her off, he just said she can't just walk around someone's tent" Again, at no point had she walked 'around' the tent. To my mind, there is a way of approaching people and maybe a little bit of customer service training would have helped in this matter and to not have been so rude!!! Needless to say, we will not be visiting that site again which is a shame because it is a lovely little site and as I said Cliff was great! Our friends will not be hiring the Glamping tent, we will look for another nearby site!
