Tranquillity close to the heart of England on a campsite in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This Club campsite sits on the edge of one the Midlands’ most popular beauty spots, Cannock Chase. A combination of natural deciduous woodland, coniferous plantations and open heathland the Chase – England’s smallest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – offers boundless adventure and fun for walkers, mountain bikers and dog lovers alike and is perfectly located for exploring the attractions of Cannock, Lichfield, Birmingham and the surrounding area.

Our pretty campsite here is well laid out and bordered by trees. It offers level hardstanding pitches, while grass pitches tend to be sloping. In addition to showers and toilets, the site offers washing up facilities, a site shop offering basic provisions and a family room and there is direct access from the site onto the Chase.

The Chase is definitely the big appeal of this site. As well as its bountiful wildlife, it offers endless walking and miles of exhilarating mountain bike trails, including the famous Follow the Dog trail and new Monkey Trail, which start from Birches Valley Forest Centre.

If you'd like to go glamping then Cannock Chase Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

We received a warm welcome from the wardens and were efficiently shown to our pitch.

We received a warm welcome from the wardens and were efficiently shown to our pitch. Some of the site does seem to be sloping but we were tucked away on a nice flat pitch as requested close to our friends. Facilities were very clean. Plenty of hot water available in the easy push button showers. Even though the site was full it didn't feel overcrowded and we never queued for showers or toilets. The reception shop sells ice creams and basic provisions. There were several lovely walks available from the site - we did the one which led to an ancient Roman fort. We visited nearby Lichfield and it's wonderful cathedral which was a nice day out. We will definitely return.

A pleasant small site set amongst trees of a country park, with architecturally interesting new wooden buildings. It has been a wet year so the lower and far end pitches were muddy. We were there in low season midweek with about 15 or 20 units, which for my taste is about right for the site - I would not want to be there when it is full, but I do not like crowds. The site managers were friendly and helpful. I do wish the club would not put so many lights round sites (we all carry torches, don't we?) or use up valuable camping pitches with glamping tents and lodges, which could be used by tourers, especially tenters for whom there appears to be little space here.

Site is set amid some wonderful trees and Forest with the sun shining in every corner.

Site is set amid some wonderful trees and Forest with the sun shining in every corner. The Dawn Chorus was great and so was the evening calls of the Owls and other night time animals. The site is kept clean all times of day. The showers need some time to warm up early hours so be aware and again as with so many sites not enough 'Hangers' or 'Hooks' to put your clothing on while taking a shower. The nearest shop is a Co-Op at Rugeley (5 Mins away) where there is also three take-aways Chinese, Fish and Chips and a Pizza place. If you love a woodland walk there are plenty from this site. Peaceful, Calm and Relaxed Site. Well worth a second visit. Wardens are a credit to the Club.
