This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

Open 16 March to 30 September. Certificated Site of the Year 2012. The site is located off the Manton to Edith Weston road on the south shore of Rutland Water. Situated adjacent to the popular cycle route around the reservoir (17 miles, or 23 if you take in the peninsular), the site also offers panoramic views across the water. An ideal place for bird watching as Osprey can often be seen in spring/summer, and a short walk to the Nature Reserve with its wealth of information in the visitor centre. The two acre site is all grass and level. There are no toilets or showers on site but chemical toilet disposal point, mains water and electric hookup are all available. Members also have access to a further three acres or pasture for dog exercising or other forms of recreation. A viewing platform is also available to enhance views over the reservoir. There are public footpaths nearby. The Horse and Jockey pub in Manton village, about a mile away offers excellent ales and good quality pub food at reasonable prices. Nearby attractions include fishing, sailing, rock climbing, ‘cycle hire walking and birdwatching’.

Lovely well maintained site very clean and tidy Stayed for two nights enroute to somewhere...

Lovely well maintained site very clean and tidy Stayed for two nights enroute to somewhere and on way back stayed for 5 more nights. This was because Brian is very friendly, the site is very well maintained, clean, tidy and considerate of the local wildlife. The pitches are very spacious, lots of room, and whilst facilities are basic its all the needs we wanted. Lovely views of rutland water and We loved the viewing platform too, can see for miles. Ideal for walkers or bikers as access down the lane to the RSPB reserve although it wasnt open when we visited. Nice garden nursery too just around the corner. Whilst quite a busy turnaround, we were never disturbed so it was ideal for a peaceful break. There is some traffic noise but only at times and far away enough for it not to bother us. We will return.

Wonderful site. Exceptionally clean. Very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful site. Exceptionally clean. Very friendly and helpful. The Paddock is an exceptional site. Spectacular views over Rutland Water, with a sheltered viewing platform to sit and have a glass of wine and watch the sun set. It is close to the lovely towns of Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham, and is perfect as a base for exploring the many attractions of Rutland and its surrounding towns, villages and countryside. The site is immaculate, with electric hook-ups if you need them, and recycling/waste points that are regularly emptied. No toilets/showers, but we knew this before we arrived, and if you have a caravan or motorhome who needs them! Plenty of fresh water points are available, and a main hub for toilet/general waste/recycling is easily accessible in the centre of the site. Dog friendly, there were a few at the site when we were there, but all were very well behaved, friendly and not at all a nuisance. Rutland Water cycling/walking track is only a short walk or ride away and 'begins' next to the Nature Reserve, where one can see the magnificent Ospreys and perhaps their young in the nest. There is plenty of other wildlife on the site itself, with Barn/Tawny/Little Owls and Bats all making evening appearances when we were there, along Swallows, Wagtails, Red Kite and many other species of birds. We would highly recommend The Paddock, we'll be returning next year, and would like to thank Brian for a wonderful stay.

Somewhat disappointed. Not quite what it said it did on the tin.

Somewhat disappointed. Not quite what it said it did on the tin. Road noise and dog noise constant. We were rather disappointed with the lack of view from the pitch we were given. The photographs on the web site are not all accurate. We had limited view, the lake approx half a mile away hidden mostly by hedges. Great view of other caravans! The site is clean, well organised and not crowded. No children allowed but noisy dogs are - everyone had them, most unwelcome. Was like Crufts dog show. We will never go back to this site again. Rutland water however is delightful to cycle round, we enjoyed our days out.

Great peaceful weekend break My wife and I went here for a long weekend wanting somewhere...

Great peaceful weekend break My wife and I went here for a long weekend wanting somewhere peaceful but within easy reach of good walking and cycling routes. We were not disappointed, Brian's response to my enquiry was friendly, quick and efficient, even texting me our pitch number before arrival. The grass pitch was pretty flat and gave great views across Rutland Water, the circular route around the lake went past the entrance to the site. This site won't suit everybody as you need to use all of your own facilities but this does not worry us, just means sites like these don't get so crowded. Particularly liked the wooden viewing platform overlooking Rutland Water and the local pub (The Horse & Jockey) where we had an excellent reasonably priced evening meal.
