Overview

Located just outside the market town of Rhayader in Powys - the green heart of Wales – sits our gorgeous campsite which embodies the natural beauty of central Wales.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, outside of the Club’s control, the planned refurbishment did not take place over the winter months. We are currently working to resolve the situation and will be improving the Club Site as soon as possible. In the mean time you can now book a pitch online or through the Club’s contact centre to camp on Wyeside Club Site and enjoy all the local area has to offer.

Situated on the banks of the River Wye, this campsite is perfect for spending long afternoons enjoying walking, cycling and fishing.

Our campsite on the River Wye is surrounded by the beautiful ‘Lakeland of Wales’. By day, see scores of red kites at Gigrin Farm, explore endless hiking and biking trails, or go horse trekking from Rhayader. Walk to Elan Valley to appreciate the spectacular scenery, and spend a relaxing afternoon in Llandrindod Wells - a lovely spa town with great shops and restaurants. By night, look up and experience Elan Valley’s captivating starry skies – a designated International Dark Sky Park.

Wyeside comes equipped with laundry facilities and two shower and toilet blocks. The neighbouring Waun Capel Park has a tennis court, all surface basketball/ football pitches and a children’s park. Rhayader town is around a 10 minute walk and has a leisure centre, town museum and plenty of pubs and eateries.

Only one car per pitch. Visitor Parking is limited, there is a pay and display car park at the leisure centre for 2nd vehicles.

Holiday Homes are available on this site. Please call 024 7647 5328 for more information.

Worth Noting

Due to the site being within the International Dark Sky Park there are none of the usual lighting schemes therefore a torch is considered an essential. Please note that mobile and TV reception are poor – satellite is required.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

Bob the Butcher in Rhayader town sells top quality, local meat and produce. The Pigs Folly make 60 flavours of sausage, using local ingredients. They supply Dexter beef, Goats produce, Jams, Home Cooked Pies and Dairy Free and Gluten Free Produce.

I last stayed at this campsite some 44 years ago whilst working in the Elan Valley. So whilst on a recent m/cycle tour I had to pop in to see the place again. delighted to see the C&C club are now looking after the site and despite not pre booking we were quickly allocated our pitches by the excellent friendly lady in reception. The site is conveniently located near to town with its excellent choice of pubs and eateries. Rhyader is an excellent place to visit

Helpful, knowledgable and friendly staff and locals. Pitched between 2 pitches being regrassed so plenty of space right by the river. Electric a bit far from my pitch but was loaned an extension cable immediately with no fuss. I agree that the whole site feels tired and needs some updating but is clean and please don't change the fully controllable showers - rare luxury these days! Good dog walking from site and usefully positioned dog bin. Enjoyed the Red Kites, the mountain road to Aberystwyth and, of course, the Elan Valley. The major drawback of this site are the noisy lorries/ traffic on the main road. Probably not as obtrusive in a caravan. Overall the dog and I enjoyed our stay and would return as long as we have a pitch by the beautiful river.

I have been staying at this site for 10 years, every year, with a group of motorcyclists, we ride the local byways and rights of way. We are not a rowdy or noisy group but have been made to feel like this on our recent visit. We were watched over when we parked our vehicles and tents, also being told to park a liveried vehicle with its chevron rear doors towards the bushed as other campers would complain! We parked our vehicles and tents as instructed and moved them 3 times to satisfy the site employees, which we were completely happy with due to the needs for fire breaks, however we felt somewhat peeved when the group opposite us had 3 caravans parked with 6 metre gaps, but with 2 VW T5s in between them ( of which people were sleeping in both) and cars in the middle of the caravans. When we were asked to move our vehicles we were watched over until we had done it, the caravan group were asked to move yet the vehicles were still in the same places 6 hours later. Why one rule for us and not for all? This site has gone downhill since your ownership, all we heard all weekend is what we could not do whilst on the site. The prices have risen but the facilities have not improved, the WIFI was free and now has to be paid for, there were no paper towels in the mens toilets for hand drying for the 4 days we were there, the hand dryer worked infrequently, and 2 of the mens showers were not useable, one did not turn on and the other had a lose shower head holder. The toilet block is also not clean, with the back of cubicle doors having stains on them, cobwebs in the corners, this block needs a deep clean. As a group of 7, some of us being C&C Club members, we have all agreed that we will no longer use this site going forward, and will book our accommodation elsewhere. I really didn't want to write this reviews but am disappointed that what was a lovely privately owned site has become something to make money out of. Last year we got asked to pay for our trailers too.

First time we were camping in a long time, staff were friendly, helpful and gave a wonderful welcome with local knowledge (about stargazing, recommended going to Elan Valley). Site was just the right size, and it was well spaced out. We had our own space even though we only had a small tent and a car. Ground was well managed, and tree lined. Great for wildlife watching. Spotted a natters bat, lots of red kites, a host of small birds. Site was next to the Wye river which provided close walk to nature trail with some beautiful trees. Facilities were great, just what we needed! Clean washing up area, never busy. Always clean. Always had free toilets and showers and so clean. Really impressed. Plenty of places to explore if you like nature. We went for several walks around the area and saw some awesome wildlife (Dipper and lizard at the wild life trusts nature reserve just 5 minutes away). Fully recommend and we are keen to go camping again so definitely a great weekend!
