Handy site for local visits.

This review is for Barnstones Caravan & Camping Site

Handy site for local visits. Services pitches are good but the whole site could do with a facelift, especially the shower block which is very tired. Dont expect a quiet nights sleep as the motorway and A road are noisy. We had a fair bit of rain and high winds but the site drains well. Local pub, The Bell Inn well worth a visit.

This was our first time out in our new caravan and this site was recommended to us. Dave (the owner) couldn't have been any more helpful, to the point of changing our pitch to one that was easier to access. The site was perfect for our first short break. The facilities were immaculate (well done Peter!) and the warden (Greta I think) was also really helpful and friendly. The landscaping and grassy areas were also perfect. The designated dog area was a godsend, especially the gravel area if you don't want to deal with muddy paws. There is a children's play area but as we have no small children we didn't look at this. There is a pub just a very short walk away in Great Bourton and two other pubs in nearby Cropedy. Banbury is a short 5 minute drive away. We will definitely be stopping here again and would recommend this site to anyone.

Great site to use for exploring the area, and dog friendly, the facilities were clean and tidy and plentiful, the local village very quaint and if you have a map it's quite possible to walk into Banbury(approx 1hr 30min) but we cheated and took the car . Banbury does have some interesting history /buildings but go into the tourist information to get a guide map which was free, but also Banbury can be just like any other place, the canal is nice and Tooleys small dry dock is intresting, and we also spent the day at the Stratford upon Avon annual canal festival using the P&R, great food and music, and loads of canal boats.cheers
