The surrounding area

Our Scarborough Club Site lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! offers tree top adventures with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse Centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus, for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland or Aidensfield for TV's Heartbeat fans.

We were a group of 4 vans and asked to be placed together which put us right next to the road and traffic started about 5.30 am. There was no hot water and only 3 toilets for women. Although they insisted we had hard stand this was obviously not the case as we all had to be towed or pushed off this morning. I feel we paid top price for very few facilities. Very disappointed.

Beware of this site for water logging.

This review is for Scarborough

Beware of this site for water logging. In the winter/early months it is really bad and the whole pitch is soft wet muddy ground. We saw many being towed off. Even the hard standing is wet grassy and boggy. Each year they say that they plan to scrap off pitches but it just leaves mud and so you need to be careful where you pitch. Lovely big site such a shame that there is no investment in pitches. This time no hot water and no reduction in gate price to reflect this which was a shame as a gesture would go along way. Its location is good but the pitches really spoil the experience.

stayed on this site years ago when it was called SCALBY MANOR and run by the council it was always a very muddy site and people had to be regularly towed of in wet weather.im afraid the situation has not altered even though it is now run by the club. i feel that by describing and charging for a hard standing pitch it is a gross misinteriptation of the actual situation and i personally feel i wasted my money paying for a hard standing as they are no different to the rest of the pitches.this site needs some serious investment in hard standings before they can be sold as HARD STANDINGS.the rest of the facilities are good
