Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

We are on the edge of Wylam in the beautiful Tyne Valley, surrounded by countryside and yet only twenty minutes by road or rail to the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Wylam, although small in size, has four pubs, two restaurants and a café. It is a very popular local and tourist destination in itself. The River Tyne is within 100 meters of the site and has fishing available. The village has several excellent walks from level to strenuous. The site is located on Hadrians Cycleway Route 72 and is perfectly placed as a centre for cycling holidays due to our rail links to the east and west coasts. Wylam station is only five minutes walk away. Within two miles of Hadrians Wall we are central to a large range of attractions and amenities. From the fabulous North-East coast to the Metro Centre, there is something for everyone within very easy reach.

We have visited this site many times and will continue to do so. Access a little tight but once you're in, the site is great, pretty level. Phil couldn't be any more helpful, nothing is any trouble, even pulling is out one very wet weekend in March. Local area is fabulous for walks along the river down to Newburn (the Big Lamp Brewery a nice half way stop). Local pubs (Black Bull & Boathouse) really nice and welcome dogs. Co-Op 5 mins walk, other shops in the village too. Also nice to take your bike and cycle out towards Hexham. 10/10!

Based in Wylam and the site is ideal if you want to see Northumberland as its less than a 5 minute walk from the train station in Wylam. We visited the site for two nights and it was at a great price of £5per night per person with a £5 charge for electric each night. Under 5s free as well as dogs were free which was ideal for us. On site there was over 30 caravans as it was a club weekend but plenty of space for our tent. The owner placed us in the best spot for the sun and also borrowed us two extension leads for the electric. He was very pleasant and was a great help. On site there was a toilet and a sink The location was ideal for the train station, the 4 pubs and the local co-op which was less than 5 minutes walk. The main pub was the Black Bull were it served nice food and was a very busy spot. All in all we will be 100% back to this spot.

Brilliant welcome, warm and friendly atmosphere on site. Extremely dog friendly (the best). The site gas great views over the surrounding countryside and is well situated for town and longer off road walks. Local pubs are very friendly with the exception of the Fox & Hounds (best avoided) . The history of the area is amazing, especially for anyone interested in the industrial revolution and the North Eastern Powerhouse. Great base from which to explore. Superb
