This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

We are on the edge of Wylam in the beautiful Tyne Valley, surrounded by countryside and yet only twenty minutes by road or rail to the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Wylam, although small in size, has four pubs, two restaurants and a café. It is a very popular local and tourist destination in itself. The River Tyne is within 100 meters of the site and has fishing available. The village has several excellent walks from level to strenuous. The site is located on Hadrians Cycleway Route 72 and is perfectly placed as a centre for cycling holidays due to our rail links to the east and west coasts. Wylam station is only five minutes walk away. Within two miles of Hadrians Wall we are central to a large range of attractions and amenities. From the fabulous North-East coast to the Metro Centre, there is something for everyone within very easy reach.

Sorry it has taken so long for me to remember to post a review.

Sorry it has taken so long for me to remember to post a review. We had a great holiday at the site in September 17. The weather wasn't great so the pitch was a bit wet but not a problem. The entry looks a bit tight but we managed with our 18ft caravan. Phil (and wife) offer advice and help. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are pubs and restaurants to visit. Also Newcastle Racecourse a short drive away, Metro Centre, Corbridge, Hexham. Loads to do! We are coming back Phil!!! Please warn the local pub landlords lol!

A warm welcome to a secluded village site a stone's throw from the banks of the river Tyne.

A warm welcome to a secluded village site a stone's throw from the banks of the river Tyne. Surrounded by high mature trees the site is well sheltered. The paddock is gently sloping in parts(30mm in 2000 mm). The grass is lush (75mm). There is one toilet (very clean) with soap towels and warm water. We pitched in a secluded corner and Phill (owner) kindly brought out additional long hook ups. A very short walk brings you to the village with 4 pubs serving food, a cafe, a small co-op supermarket and a Chinese takeaway that delivers to the site.

Handy site for Newcastle and surround area.

Handy site for Newcastle and surround area. The owner gave us a friendly welcome, but did not show us where things were located. There are only a couple of electric posts, if they are in use he feeds a cable from the house or garage. On our first morning the power went out briefly twice! The basic toilet is through a white door next to the garage, but you would not know as there is no sign on the door. Chemical toilet and water also in same location. Level grass field, not too muddy in spite of a lot of rain. Less than ten minute walk to Spa store and a new Co-Op has opened two minutes away. 3 pubs in walking distance. Bus to Prudhoe nearby. Wylam train station 3 mins walk has train every hour to Newcastle city centre. Site on airport flight path so woken some mornings at 6.15am by the noise. Access is down a lane marked as a cul-de-sac, with cars parked on one side but room for our motorhome to pass. Turn left at end, cross the cycle path and you will see the Club sign at the right hand side of the house.

Large oblong Field, with short cut grass with cuttings collected.

This review is for Stephensons Arms

Large oblong Field, with short cut grass with cuttings collected. With some views of surrounding hills. Only one toilet, clean, in outbuilding with a washing up bowl and information leaflets board in said room, which had a large frosted window with blinds. Outside and underneath this window was the water fill up tap, which made it a bit uncomfortable for my wife when she was filling up the aqua roll and a man walked in to use the toilet! That aside, we found this site to be excellent for our needs. Metro Train station nearby with trains to nearby Newcastle and the Metro centre. Walks and cycle path along side the river Tyne, which is a stones throw from the site. 3 Pubs within easy walking distance, The Boathouse Inn, which was next to the train station. was only serving Pie and mash or sandwiches as food but had a great selection of cask ales and ciders, about 10 of each in a friendly atmosphere. The Black Bull Inn, also friendly, where we had probably the best Sunday lunch I can remember, and which also had a couple of cask beers as well as the usual choice and Sky TV. The Fox and Hounds, also friendly which was just reopening under new owners, weren't doing food when we were there but planned too. There is a Spar near The Black Bull Inn. TV coverage was good, phone signal was also good with 4g most of the time with O2 giff gaff. Think the site may have WiFi but can't confirm as did not use it. Occasional noise from the planes flying out of Newcastle International airport. When arriving at site you drive down the last terrace nearest the river, at the end of the terrace turn left and you should see the site entrance.
