    Top site for beaches

Enjoy coast and countryside from this popular north Norfolk site near Cromer.

You can get a feel for the beautiful and varied Norfolk coast and countryside from our Club campsite at West Runton.

Our pretty and spacious campsite commands a secluded location close to the quaint seaside village with which it shares its name. Trees surround this beautifully maintained site. Facilities include roomy showers, a parent and child room, laundry and washing up area and a lovely dog walk.

Just a short walk from the campsite brings you to the quaint fishing village of West Runton. Its sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing while the plentiful rock pools are waiting to be explored.

For more sandy beaches, piers and promenades Sheringham, Cromer (both within walking distance of the campsite) and Caister-on-Sea tick the boxes.

A mile south of West Runton, Beacon Hill is the highest point in Norfolk. Scale the dizzy height of 300ft and you’ll be rewarded with views over the countryside and coast.

For nature lovers Blakeney Point is a must. This mix of dune, marsh and shingle is home to seals and a variety of birds. Catch a ferry from Mortson Quay to see them. There are more animals to be seen at the Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary and the Norfolk Shire Horse Centre close to the campsite.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

This review is for West Runton

This site has a terrible access road to it seems to be more of a narrow sandy badly potholed lane than a road it is extremely steep, extremely narrow and extremely bumpy especially when towing a caravan as it doesn't matter how slowly you go it doesn't stop the van being thrown around on the road, plus you cannot see what is coming the other way so if you met a car with a caravan on the back coming the other way whilst towing a caravan I can see no way they would be able to pass as it's far too narrow. The site itself is fairly clean as are the facilities, however there are some staff who are very abrupt when speaking to people and don't seem to like dealing with people very much, we met these when we asked about storing our van on the site & they were exactly the same to a lady who came in to ask about a seasonal pitch just rude & abrupt. On arrival we asked about use of the disabled facilities to be told they would be kept unlocked only to find that near the end of our stay they had been locked again and I had to get my husband to ask for them to be opened again had he have nipped out I couldn't have gone & asked for that to be done myself. It was very disappointed to see people close to us set up a small pen so their 3 dogs could just step out of the van to pee etc with nothing being said to them about this, I would hate to be the next person on that pitch, when 3 dogs have been peeing on the grass for a few days, yet nothing was said to the owners about this by any staff member & they were still doing this when we left, even though it clearly stated no dog fouling allowed on site in the leaflet we were given. In light of our experience with this site we will not be using this site again & won't be recommending to friends

Changes to club policy have created potential problems for everybody!! Be sure to time your arrival to avoid busy times. A major change to checking in means that the access road can be blocked for 3 hours as rigs queue up the access track onto Sandy Lane. This means that nobody can get in or out until check-in is completed. Also be aware that there are no bin facilities other than in the car park area. Otherwise, the site is a great base for exploring the local amenities. Do try the Corner Tea House in West Runton. Food is all freshly cooked and there is an amazing choice of teas. Enjoy.

As a family of 2 adults, 2 children (plus Labrador) we cannot fault any aspect of this campsite. We had read previous reviews concerning the access road (which nearly prevented us from booking the site) however in reality the access is not as bad in our opinion, yes a little bumpy, some parts worst than others, but nothing to be overly concerned. Brilliant toilet/showers, very clean. Wardens extremely helpful and gave choice of pitch (we chose lower field nearest playground). Excellent walks direct from campsite, Village Inn Pub provides excellent food with dogs allowed - If you are looking for a very well maintained site in a beautiful part of Norfolk, and are keen walkers who enjoy a peaceful woodland site, do not hesitate to book. We had a very enjoyable stay and we will be re-booking for next year -

A very quiet site in the midst of woodland near to West and East Runton and Cromer. The joy of this site is that you can get almost anywhere on foot or by accessible public transport. Many variations of dog walking directly from the site. Will definitely be returning to explore further.
