Overview

Camp at our secluded site in Kent, the Garden of England.

Our Oldbury Hill Club campsite is located in an idyllic spot within Styants Wood, opposite the Iron Age fort of the same name in Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is a lovely open, all grass campsite. Pitches are sloping so chocks will be required.

The area is ideal for walkers. Two way-marked circular walks pass over Oldbury Camp, the large Iron Age Hill fort. The hill is now covered with woodland managed by the National Trust. You can also walk from the campsite to Ightham Mote, a medieval moated manor house with a 14-acre garden and restaurant.

It’s a short car journey to Knole, a National Trust run English country house set in a deer park; Penshurst Palace and Gardens; the National Trust run Chartwell, family home of Winston Churchill; the beautiful Emmetts Garden and Hever Castle and Gardens.

You can also visit London by train from Borough Green and Sevenoaks stations.

Access and Worth Noting

Savnav users please use Styants Bottom Road, not postcode.
Most pitches are sloping and chocks will be needed. TV reception now has good signal. Due to narrow access road, please do not arrive before 1pm. All campers must vacate by 12pm.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

Chart Farm, five minutes' walk from site, sells venison, pork and beef. Farmers’ markets are held weekly in Shipbourne and fortnightly in Tunbridge Wells. Crown Point carvery/restaurant is recommended.

A very nice site on a slight slope those in tents are probably better off pitching at the bottom of the field as it is more level there. Luckily for our 2 dogs it has woodland opposite, we were informed on arrival that there was no dog walk on site and did feel they were not a welcome addition, there are no poo bins on site . the facilities really need updating but are kept very clean tho only 1 shower in each block so this proved inconvenient when busy. there is a good laundry on site with washing and drying machines. It is great place to stay when visiting attractions in Kent and is close to the M20. Ightham Moat is a short distance away and well worth a visit with some great woodland walks and views.

Super and well kept campsite surrounded by woodland. Friendly and helpful staff. Facilities are good and cleaned regularly. It is by name on a hill so chocks needed - i was given a loan of these. Great chilled campsite - had a lovely gentle feel to it and i found it so relaxing. Fresh free rabge eggs in shop. Local farm shop 5 mins walk for wild boar sausages bacon venison etc. Nearby woodland great for walking and children enjoying bushcraft bivvies and tree swings. Access on single track road with passing places. Those who complained of this in past have obviously never been to Scotland etc. Look forward to going back.

We found the site well kept with friendly staff.

We found the site well kept with friendly staff. The countryside around is beautiful with good walks locally. We visited the National Trust Properties nearby and the lovely sunny weather completed our stay. It was amazing to hear the owls in the late evening and we slept really well. Although the toilets do need updating and were rather chilly as it was early in the season, we couldn't fault the standard of cleanliness throughout.
