Overview

A great campsite to explore Canterbury, with a bus stop outside the site entrance.

City, coast and countryside – you can take your pick if you’re basing yourself at our Canterbury Club campsite. Although a popular stopover for those travelling to or from France, this campsite offers the ideal base for exploring Kent’s coast and country.

The campsite lies a couple of miles south of the city – within walking distance. The not so energetic can catch a bus from outside the campsite. The well laid out campsite offers a mix of level grass and hardstand pitches. There are newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities, a washing up area, children’s play area and good dog walking.

Off site Canterbury is a city packed with history, heritage and culture. It has a stunning cathedral and the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church and castle. It also has an eclectic mix of specialist shops, independent retailers, bars and restaurants.

Head to the coast for Whitstable with its trendy harbour and July Oyster Festival. The more traditional Herne-Bay has two miles of seafront adorned with colourful beach huts and a pier. The quaint Victorian town of Broadstairs with its Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides is a contrast to the more cosmopolitan habour side Ramsgate noted for its pavement cafes and waterside bars.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

We booked here as a trial run for weekend camping (finish work/school on a Friday and head straight off!). We have an 11yr old and a 4yr old. The site is about an hour's drive from us in Kent. Booking was easy, and I was able to let the staff know that we'd be arriving in the early evening. When we arrived, we were given a warm and friendly welcome. One of the staff, walked us to our pitch, and gave us really good info about the site. They made sure we were happy with our pitch (it was perfect) and told us to let them know if we had any problems. Pitch was large, with electric hook up and on very well kept grass. Nice level ground. The site is clean and very well maintained. There were lots of people staying, but it didn't feel over crowded and certainly wasn't noisy. The toilet/shower blocks were excellent and - again - very clean. Facilities were great: basic onsite shop, pizza van on a Friday evening, lovely children's play area near our pitch. Canterbury is just a short drive away - 1 mile. There are plenty of shops a short drive away, so you won't be stuck if you've forgotten something. Howlett's is also just around the corner. We had a wonderful weekend at this site and would love to come again and stay longer.

This is my favourite campsite & I return again & again with my children & dog.

This is my favourite campsite & I return again & again with my children & dog. The wardens are friendly & helpful, the site is absolutely spotless, the shower block is the cleanest I've ever seen and the site itself is very green with birds & bunnies galore! Even when busy it is quiet and relaxed. Everyone is friendly and its nice to have the tents and the 'Ready Camp' too as it brings in a good mix of people. Canterbury is a beautiful city with so much history as well as shops, bars & restaurants. (If you like Mexican food try Cafe des Amis near the Westgate towers). Its also easy to go to the coast and there are some wonderful sandy beaches to enjoy with the kids in the summer. If its wet during your stay there's a swimming pool in town & cinema too. All the main supermarkets are easy to drive to. Highly recommended - enjoy!

This was our first stay on a Camping and Caravanning Club site.

This was our first stay on a Camping and Caravanning Club site. Enjoyed it so much we stayed 7 nights. This is a brilliant, well thought out site. Shower block is warm, always clean and 6 hooks for shower cubicles is fantastic. Wardens are extremely helpful and friendly. This site is a great base for sight seeing. We travelled from Whitstable around the coast to Folkstone. Would recommend this site.

Just returned from a 2-night stay here.

This review is for Canterbury

Just returned from a 2-night stay here. Close to Canterbury, nice peaceful site with warm, modern, clean facilities. Good hard-standing pitches. Quite a few trees around so a nice green site. A playground for children. Separate dog walking area. Good washing up area. Laundry facilities if you need them. Welcome very friendly and helpful. Wouldn't recommend the Indian takeaway though (menu included in welcome pack), didn't taste of spice at all! Canterbury is such an interesting city. Visited Dover Castle and had a lovely walk along the White Cliffs path. Also went to Chatham Historic Dockyard. So much to see in the area, we had never visited this area before and will definitely be going back!
