Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool (which will be open and heated from June 1st until the first week in September) and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Wightlink Ferries offer great discounts to all Club members. There are also discounts available to non-members when booking a stay at our Adgestone campsite

We very much enjoyed our time at this site; it was very quiet at the time we stayed, mid May, so could not say how it would be in high season. The site managers really helped to make our stay, they were always prepared to chat and give helpful advice, which added to our holiday. We went Wednesday to Wednesday, and joined some friends for a weekend walking. Driving on the island does need care, we did use our Sat Nav when not towing and some roads were narrow, but we did get to see parts of the island we might of missed otherwise. There are so many things to do and see, you are really spoilt for choice, it rather depends on your interests, historical buildings, steam railway, seaside, theme parks, take your pick.

My wife and I had not visited the IOW for a long time and, quite frankly, forgot just how beautiful the island is. We needed to attend a funeral on the island and decided to take our camper-van to arrive the day prior to avoid any rushing around before the service. We were extremely impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. All the facilities were very well presented and well maintained. We did not want for anything. Located just 2 miles from the coast at Sandown, the site nestles in the countryside with beautiful views to the south. There is a delightful walk from the corner of the campsite, passing a lake and then utilising a path which used to form part of the old railway track, before dropping into the north side of Sandown and arriving by the pier. This route can also be cycled. We intend to return to this site, bring our bikes and stay much longer. We would recommend this site to anyone, whether a member or not enjoy we did. Many thanks to Camping and Caravanning Club and especially to the staff

Just stayed for 7 nts in Ready Camp and had a great time.

Just stayed for 7 nts in Ready Camp and had a great time. Everything we could possibly need was supplied in the tent. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. They were always willing to give advise on places to visit and the best places to eat. The campsite is in a lovely location with easy access to all local attractions. We recommend the 7 day bus pass (24) as the buses are frequent to most of the attractions. The ferry was perfect both ways. On time and very easy to get on and off. The drive from the ferry port to the campsite was under 30 minutes and all the roads were easy to use and quiet. The campsite has an onsite cafe and shop which is very handy. They do breakfasts and meals throughout the day. This campsite is perfect for walkers, bikers, cyclists and anyone wanting to relax. Great place for families with children as there are 2 children's play areas and a fishing lake on site. Overall The Isle of Wight is a great place to visit and we can't wait to return. We would recommend Ready Camp and this campsite.

First piece of advice is to follow the map not the sat nav.

This review is for Adgestone

First piece of advice is to follow the map not the sat nav. Even so, the last 100m of access lane is very overgrown and left lasting scratches on our windows unfortunately. Friendly welcome and we could choose from 3 pitches because it was off season. Being kind, we will say the toilet block is adequate and functional. Investment here would be welcome but maybe the club have other priorities elsewhere although all most members would ask is for warm and hygienic toilet and wash facilities as a basic starting point. Sandown is a 20 minute walk (or 5 min bike ride) away and has a nice prom, clean beaches and a pier. Venture another 30 mins along the prom and Shanklin has much the same to offer plus a charming older village with thatched houses and pubs. Everywhere else on the island is within a half hour drive. Newport is your main town for shops and supermarket stocking-up but there is a co-op in Sandown and a Tesco Express a mile from the site.
