Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool (which will be open and heated from June 1st until the first week in September) and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Wightlink Ferries offer great discounts to all Club members. There are also discounts available to non-members when booking a stay at our Adgestone campsite

The only let down to this site was the shop it ran out of bread two days after I arrived and when asked when next delivery would come told there would not be one, and then there was no salad and then ran out of jacket potatoes, it was suppose to be a take-away as well as supplies. In the end done a online shop and walked one and half miles for bread and milk sometimes in the rain , if the person running the shop does not want to do it properly get rid and let someone else do it, if on continental sites fresh bread is available every day. This reflects badly on the club.

Stayed for one week early August in Ready Camp tent. Tent was lovely - as previously experienced. Everything you need. Minor disadvantage of these tents is their location handily close to the facilities - which on the plus side meant we could let our oldest go up to the loo by himself but on the downside meant you could hear the hand-dryers. The shower blocks could use a refurb - dated and not enough for the size of the site these days. Family shower rooms good though. Nice riverside walk (technically the dog walk, but kids loved it on their little bikes). Fun in the outdoor pool - bit fresh but they coped ;-) Handy shop with tasty croissants in the morning. Be warned - yes it's school hols but there was a lot of noise from kids running all around the site all evening right up until around 9.30pm which isn't so good if you have younger ones trying to get to sleep. Appreciated the useful rotary clothes airers - v useful when drying wet swimming/beach stuff . A large site, felt a little crowded in with everyone in rows - nicer (quieter) pitches closer to the river.

If you are looking for a site that is clean and in a beautiful setting then you need look no further. This was our first trip out as club members and this site didn't disappoint, upon arrival we were shown to our pitch that even though it was raining was not to boggy and once the sun came out it dried out quickly, the shop was ok for minor essentials but could stock a few more items, the takeaway however is very good and useful for a last night (can't be bothered to cook because the cooking stuff has been packed) meal. Now for the big question on everyones lips, the facilities, always very clean and the water was usually hot although they are in need of a little updating and an extra shower or two wouldn't go a miss. All in all a really pleasant site and we would recommend it to others. My family and I would like to give a special thanks to Paul and Julie, two of the site assistants, who made our visit just that little better, always had time for a quick chat and always willing to help, we were also saddened to hear they won't be at Adgestone for the next season so hopefully we will bump into them at their next site, I don't think we would return if they aren't at Adgestone.
