Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool (which will be open and heated from June 1st) and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

We spent a fabulous two weeks at this beautiful site.

We spent a fabulous two weeks at this beautiful site. Cannot fault the staff who were friendly, helpful and efficient. The pool was a real luxury, particularly in view of the heat wave! The facility blocks do need updating (CCC please note!) but despite this are kept clean and tidy, with fresh flowers as an added touch of TLC. Lovely island, so much to see and do whatever your tastes. Oh, and our Ready Camp unit was superb!

Friendly welcome and couldn't have improved on our request for a pitch near the facilities block - we were the closest of anybody ! Toilets, showers etc very clean and never had to queue, though admittedly it wasn't a very busy time. There is a second facilities block which can be opened up for peak periods though. On-site shop very useful, especially for home-made bread and butter pudding (good ballast in the backpack !) and cooked breakfasts. Had nice circular walk from site to local vineyard (interesting tour), Brading Down (good views) and Roman villa (some impressive mosaics). Also walked from site to local nature reserve along the cycleway - pleasant stroll, but the only disappointment of the week - the red squirrels didn't show ! Did see one at Osborne House later though. Nothing is very far from Adgestone and we visited everywhere we had hoped to, but have to echo a previous reviewer - the roads on the Isle of Wight are dreadful. Certainly no need for speed bumps ! Goodness knows what the council has spent its money on for the last 30 years. But having said that, maybe they are finally pulling their finger out because there seem to be "Road Closed" signs all over the place, including on the main route across the island to the western end. Took us the whole week to find what we thought was the best way to Freshwater, Yarmouth, Needles etc - in case it helps anyone, we'd suggest Brading Down Road to Downend, then via Newport and Shalfleet. Would be happy to go back to Adgestone, however usually go to a different area each year so it will probably remain a one-off stay fondly remembered.

We arrived at the site at about 8pm to find a very friendly member of staff to greet us and help us to choose a pitch. Over the period of our holiday we found ALL the staff to be very friendly and to a person willing to talk and give advice. The facilities were immaculately clean but would have liked to be able to use during the night with touch pad key locks on doors. Site kept very tidy and clean. Well done.
