Our Club Site on the beautiful Isle of Skye

Head to Loch Greshornish on the beautiful Isle of Skye and you’ll find our Skye Club campsite. It boasts an idyllic location right on the loch shore where campers enjoy stunning views over the water to the hills beyond.

The campsite is on a working croft. Magnificent Highland cattle and sheep graze close by and you can buy fresh laid duck and hen eggs at the site shop along with most essentials. There are hardstandings for caravanners and motorhomers with plenty of these pitches enjoying the views. You can go glamping at Skye campsite too. Two camping pods provide cosy accommodation for those who perhaps fancy leaving their own units at home.

A visit to Dunvegan Castle on the Isle’s west coast is a must. It sits on a rocky outcrop betwixt sea and manicured gardens. Seal spotting boat trips operate from the castle jetty. Not far from the castle Caligan Coral beach is a fantastic place to spend the day. Portree is the main town on Skye, set round a harbour you’ll find the Aros Centre. As well as theatre, films and concerts it’s here you’ll find out more about the Isle through a series of exhibitions.

To catch a glimpse of the sea eagles catch a boat from the harbour.

Super site right by the loch and with great facilities, beautifully maintained and well run by friendly and helpful staff. Could maybe do with additional dishwashing facilities? - rest was perfect.

I arrived onsite to a warm smile and welcome. Very professional and welcoming. I was shown to my pitch, not just pointed to it. Also all the key buildings on site, shower block, with laundry and kitchen. (All exceptionally clean). The dog walk goes on for miles, as the site is fenced in and its possible to go a long way along the Loch. If you are lucky you may spot an otter! There are sheep, rams and highland cattle on site but as with most of Skye keep your dog on the lead, unless advised not too. On the dog walk they may play loose. I had a quick look at the yurts and I was really impressed. A family of 5 were staying there at the time and they said it was fab. Skye itself, is stunning, I get all the reviews! The potholes are almost all gone. From Portree to staffin the roads have been re tarmaced and the other side of the island was being maintained when I was there. I will be back at this campsite again, as they were all so friendly and helpful. I have ticked all he boxes for people to stay here, if you love walking, scenery, kayaking, painting, hiking, dog walking, fresh air and friendly people. Also I didnt expect WiFi to be here. There is, its sporadic but there are lots of establishments in Portree that have WiFi to catch up. I came for the peace and scenery. Best holiday ever!

As expected this site was remote and felt a bit wild and woolly on first arrival.

As expected this site was remote and felt a bit wild and woolly on first arrival. The wardens were helpful and pleasant and provided some useful tips on local eateries and places to visit; I particularly liked the map of Skye in the information room, with all the attractions displayed around the edge and pointers to the locations. However, unless you purchase wifi here, you will be cut off from the rest of the world! No TV signal, and no mobile reception on our three phones. But being in one of the most peaceful and stunningly beautiful locations at the edge of the loch more than makes up for it, and as soon as you are 10 miles down the road you will get a signal. Recommendations: the Fairy Glen, Dunvegan Castle, Portree, Talisker Refinery and Old Inn, and the charming Stein Inn for good food and the most achingly beautiful sunsets.

As a member of the CCC and having stayed at other Skye campsites we were sorry to say we were so dissapointed with the Skye Club Site. For us having the local village/pub a 30min walk down a narrow road with no pavements totally unsuitable for safety of kids and dogs. There were NO dog walks directly from Skye Club Site bar a muddy walk around the stunning loch. Skye CCC would not allow us to use our awning on any pitch as it would touch the grass (previous CCC was fine about it as still 6metres between vehicles). So less than 30mins after pulling onto CCC Skye we decided to wave goodbye to it and the fee we had already paid & move to a more welcoming site as muddy dogs in a motorhome doesn't mix whereas at Kinloch Campsite we had a choice of pitches to choose from all of which would accommodate our awning so perfect to dry off & towel down muddy dogs & muddy kids. Kinloch Campite?s new owners (as of March 2018) Paul and Christine are only 4 weeks into their new ownership but they managed to book us in for 3 nights at very short notice (i.e. we were 20mins away and needed a pitch that night!). They pitched us up in an overflow pitch for the first night (mind even this had a loch view and was near the amenities which are spot on, clean and very hot showers). Then over the next 2 nights we were allowed to select our pitch right on the loch side (we chose pitch no 23 as it was feet from the lochside, what a view). All pitches at Kinloch give you a fantastic view though. The site has been fully booked & everything has run smoothly. We will definitely be coming back to Kinloch Campsite; just a 2min walk into local village with bakery, shop, pub, restaurants, cafe, museum, walking distance of Dunvegan Castle, Macleod Tables & most importantly for us dog walks from site it is perfect. So Kinloch fitted our needs perfectly. Though CCC Skye has equally stunning loch views it lacked so many things that make our camping experience enjoyable so we will not return. Sorry.
