    Top site for fishing

On-site fishing available and the Cotswolds within easy driving distance.

You’ll find our pretty Winchcombe Club campsite in the heart of the Cotswolds. Its location near the village of Alderton makes this campsite the perfect base for exploring the area’s pretty honey-colour limestone towns and villages. It’s great walking country too. ¬For starters there’s the Winchcombe way. This 42-mile, figure-of-eight trail runs adjacent to the campsite.

Winchcombe is a charming, quiet little site with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The focal point of the site is its carp pool – attractive not only to fishermen but an abundance of friendly birdlife too. Bag yourself a pool-side pitch and enjoy a prime fishing spot.

The site has excellent toilet and shower facilities, a games room and dog walk. And the site shop stocks a variety of local produce from nearby farms, dairies, butchers and bakers.

The attractive town of Winchcombe is a short drive from the site. It has Walkers are Welcome status and a tempting variety of top restaurants, pubs and tea shops. Further afield Cheltenham with its elegant Regency houses, award-wining gardens and stylish shops is worth visiting.

If you'd like to go glamping then Winchcombe Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is also available at this campsite.

Worth Noting

Carp, tench, roach and rudd fishing is available on site. The Winchcombe Way Footpath is adjacent to the site and guidebooks are available at reception. Lodges are available to hire.

This site was an absolute surprise and a joy to stay at with great hosts on arrival.

This review is for Winchcombe

This site was an absolute surprise and a joy to stay at with great hosts on arrival. The facilities are good and clean, although showers were luke warm (probably due to time of day we visited). If you want a small quiet site to just get away and enjoy the sun whilst reading or fishing in the lake, then this is the site for you. We will definately be returning.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. The site was well maintained by very friendly helpful staff. The facilities were very clean. The site in the heart of the country was easy to get to. We walked into Winchcombe one of the days which was a good stretch of the legs but worth the effort despite being caught in hailstone shower. Well it was April. We took the bus back and the bus driver very kindly because of the weather dropped us off as near site as he could. The bus stop for an infrequent service is in the beautiful village of Alderton. A fifteen minute walk from site. So you will need to plan bus trips carefully. Havent said that the Gardiners Arms served a very good pint of Guinness. We also enjoyed a good meal there one evening. This is a very nice site and we would certainly return here again if we were in the area.

We only stayed 1 night as we were on our way home to Cornwall but we will definitely be back again. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The facilities were clean and the water was warmer than other sites we had visited earlier in the trip. I don't know if anyone of the fishermen around the central pond caught anything but we had an enjoyable time both watching and feeding the resident duck population. It was only a 1 night stopover but we will be back for a longer stay to sample the many attractions displayed in the excellent information room.

Debbie and Jason were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, as were the rest of the site team. The facilities were very clean and well maintained. The site has beautiful surroundings and an abundance of wildlife to watch. Despite some appalling weather at times, we felt it was one of our best breaks ever. We would definitely recommend this site to anyone. We are looking forward to a return visit in the near future.
