Adjacent to the beach, Normans Bay site is a haven for walkers and nature lovers.

On the East Sussex coast, our Normans Bay Club campsite is perfect for family camping holidays. Opposite is a sand and shingle beach - ideal for sandcastles, kite flying and bathing. The popular seaside resorts of Eastbourne and Brighton are to the west and Bexhill-on-Sea to the east.

The open and level site has 200 pitches and three amenity blocks. Facilities include washing machines, a parent and child room, children’s play area and recreation hall. There is also a well-stocked site shop.

The nearby Pevensey Levels, known for nature conservation and agriculture, will satisfy nature lovers. For walkers, the South Downs Way (pick it up at the Seven Sisters Country Park) is a great way to see the stunning East Sussex countryside.

The area is steeped in history - the Normans landed here in 1066. Join the 1066 Way which takes you around Battle, Hastings and Pevensey Castle, one of Britain’s oldest strongholds, to discover some of this history.

Eastbourne, five miles south west of the campsite, offers a plethora of things to see and do. There are parks and gardens, the Sovereign Marina with a host of shops, craft outlets and eating places and several beaches offering safe bathing and a variety of water-based activities.

Other attractions in the area include the magnificent moated Herstmonceux Castle, Drusillas Park and Charleston Manor.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Worth Noting

The site is next to a dog-friendly beach, where fishing is available. Well-stocked site shop sells a range of food as well as bottled gas. No ball games, kite flying or frisbees are allowed on site. These can be played on the beach opposite the site.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There is a Farmers’ Market in Pevensey Bay every other Saturday. The Smugglers Pub in Pevensey uses local produce and is dog friendly. Campers can also get 10% off their meal.

We had a wheel bearing collapse on our trailer so arrived at the site late and with the trailer on the back of a Recovery lorry. Keith was very helpful when we arrived giving us all the info we needed to quickly get pitched and settled. All of the wardens were very helpful and friendly, accepting our parts delivery and helped with a recommendation of a mobile Mechanic when I was unable to effect a repair myself. The whole site and facilities are very well maintained and well situated for visits to Pevensey (for the Castle, Church & Museum) and Eastbourne by bicycle or in our case mobility scooter. We would recommend the Normans Bay site to anyone its one of the best we have visited and one we will return to in the future (arriving under our own steam hopefully).

Staff very welcoming & friendly. Site very well maintained but slightly uneven. Toilet block clean but shower cubicles a bit cramped. Disappointed that the beach just across the road is shingle. Not suitable for dogs paws. Had to drive to find dog walking areas.

This review is for Normans Bay

We stayed for 2 nights at Normans Bay for only our second trip with our motorhome. With 2 dogs on board we wanted somewhere dog friendly and near a beach, also near public transport so that we could see the area whilst leaving the motorhome on site. What a great choice Normans Bay CCC site turned out to be. Very friendly receptionists who showed us to our pitch and explained all the facilities etc. Spotlessly clean toilet blocks and showers, immaculate pitches and grassed areas. Beach is less than 50yds from the site entrance. Normans Bay Railway station is a 20minute walk away with regular services to Pevensey and Eastbourne (15m journey) to the west and Bexhill / Hastings and beyond to the east. Choice of pubs and bars in Pevensey (we didnt try these) and a fish n chip van serving delicious large portions of fresh fish etc on the evening we arrived. Overall a great site which we would certainly revisit and recommend.

Site was fairly flat so easy to erect awning. Beach non existent as all large pebbles. No dog walks from camp site [beach too stony] was a let down as other sites visited had good walking facilities for dogs. Shop poorly stocked. Showers very cramped.
