    Top site for beaches

On Scotland's sunshine coast, to the east of the country's capital, Edinburgh.

Our peaceful Dunbar Club campsite is just a stone’s throw from the popular East Lothian seaside town of the same name and adjacent to Whitesands Bay - a long stretch of sandy surfing beach.

Spectacular landscapes surround the campsite, ensuring wherever you are pitched you have a stunning view. Seaward the impressive views extend over the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock – temporary nesting spot for 150,000 seabirds during peak season.

The campsite is well laid out and spacious with 90 pitches, some of which are hardstands. Modern facilities, including a wetsuit shower are available.

Dunbar, three miles from the campsite, offers shops, places to eat and more beaches. East beach, minutes from the town centre is great for bathing, paddle boarding and sea kayaking.

Inland other attractions include East Links Family Park with animals and a narrow gauge railway; the Museum of Flight at East Fortune and the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, where you can view gannets, puffins and seals from interactive live cameras.

Worth Noting

Sandy beach 1 mile from site, most pitches have sea views and there’s a large picnic area overlooking coast. Wetsuit shower available. Large Sunday market/car boot sale every week at East Fortune 10 miles away. Very windy site, steel rock pegs recommended. New dog exercise area.

WiFi

The WiFi service is excellent throughout the campsite. Prices.

Eat Local

Belhaven Fruit Farm is 4 miles from site. Dunbar High Street has numerous cafes, an organic greengrocer, community bakery and wet fish shop.

We have just had two days here as we wanted to stay near Edinburgh. We cannot paradise the site and the staff highly enough. A happy smiling face when we arrived. Help when we asked for it and what a stunning view of the coast and Bass rock. The site and it's facilities were spotless. We were treated to lovely sunsets, and even had the treat of a gentleman playing his bagpipes one afternoon. We found the park and ride system easy to use to go into Edinburgh. Even though the site was quite full it was quiet and everyone friendly.

I decided to book an impromptu stay at Dunbar with my youngest son, as the rest of the family were busy all weekend with various things. From he moment we arrived, we were very impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness and position of the site. We have a pit on one of the high terraces and had beautiful views of Dunbar and Bass Rock in the distance, not to mention two beautiful sunsets. The site tiles and showers were immaculate and warm and you could tell they were very well maintained with no signs of damage or wear and tear. The chiders' park was grated fenced in, so prevented any wandering off of the little ones. Their designated dog walking area, which was in fact a large fenced off field that they could have a good run about in, was brilliant and I've not seen such a good focus on making a site so animal friendly for a while. The two owners (who'd only taken on the site 3-4 months ago) were very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming, even their daughter walked my son round to the park to show him where everything was :) Only thing to be a bit concious off is that there are no immediate shops or pubs within walking distance (although a big Asda in Dunbar is only a 10 mins drive away, so best to plan and bring the for and drink you need, as the site shop was great for emergencies (i.e. we ran out of washing up liquid), but it's only small and didn't sell any alcohol, etc. All in al, I would strongly recommend staying here, as the site is beautiful, the staff amazing and the local sites simply stunning!

A friendly welcome.

This review is for Dunbar

A friendly welcome. Facilities were exceptionally clean and well appointed and the grounds were very well maintained with provision for dog owners. Fabulous views and some adjacent walking. The site was relatively quiet during my stay at the beginning of May so it was a peaceful and pleasant experience despite mixed weather. I would highly recommend the site as a base for exploring the area.
