Linger a while on this friendly campsite in southern Scotland.

Moffat is our Club campsite in the Scottish lowlands. It’s an ideal stopping off point for journeys through Scotland. This pretty Victorian Spa town is just three minutes off the M74. But Moffat is much more than just a pit stop, its idyllic location more than warrants a longer stay.

The 180-pitch Moffat campsite boasts a fine setting in a wide valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The well laid out site has a good range of well-placed facilities catering for all campers needs.

If you choose to linger a little longer in the area, the town of Moffat is a great place to start your exploration. Just a five minute walk from the campsite, the town boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Here you'll find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel which appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat also offers a variety of shopping including a weekly market on Fridays and a monthly producers market.

Nearby Station Park offers a  variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. Next to the campsite the Hammerlands Centre has a garden centre, cafe and fishery.

The town holds an annual walking festival in October and from the campsite you can access some of the finest hilwalking in the south of Scotland. Also close by is the Grey Mares Tail, a magnificent waterfalldropping 200ft from Loch Skene.

There are also a number of historic houses and castles in the area. Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci and has wonderful landscaped gardens and woods. Medieval  Caerlaverock Castle is located close to nearby  Dumfries.

I like the town of Moffat and find this site handy for it.

I like the town of Moffat and find this site handy for it. The site is well maintained and clean. Although it is a big site it nevers seems crowded and I have never queued for the toilet or showers since the refurbishment. However I would like the water in the showers to be hotter. I shouldn't have goose pimples whilst showering.

Cannot find fault with this site, the facilities are spotless and the staff are really helpful, friendly and kind. My wife's in a wheelchair and the pitch could not have been better. Easy access to town and lovely park close by, watch out for lack good drop kerbs and plan your route. Very dog friendly town and the Moffat Mill very accommodating. We will be back next year and make this a regular holiday. A special thankyou to all the staff for making our holiday so good, they are so hard working and keep this site so beautiful.

Different wardens to last time, but same friendliness and helpfulness expected.

Different wardens to last time, but same friendliness and helpfulness expected. Had made a pitch request which was made. Toilet block enormous with privacy cubicles, for such a large site, you hardly met anyone at the toilets. Handy for walking into Moffat for shopping, some good quality shops which are hard to find nowadays. Buses to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dumfries etc. in Moffat main street. A visit to Gretna Village Outlet a must. We will be back again, one of our favourite destinations.

This is our second stay at Moffat and not our last. Its go it all, it ha the peace and quiet of the countryside yet has loads of amenities right on its doorstep. Want to do shopping, fancy a pint, want to eat out, want to take away? you have loads of options. We even went down to Gretna about 25 minutes away and did shopping at a massive retail centre. Definitely coming back. Staff are lovely and the locals even lovelier, very welcoming.
