Linger a while on this friendly campsite in southern Scotland.

Moffat is our Club campsite in the Scottish lowlands. It’s an ideal stopping off point for journeys through Scotland. This pretty Victorian Spa town is just three minutes off the M74. But Moffat is much more than just a pit stop, its idyllic location more than warrants a longer stay.

The 180-pitch Moffat campsite boasts a fine setting in a wide valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The well laid out site has a good range of well-placed facilities catering for all campers needs.

If you choose to linger a little longer in the area, the town of Moffat is a great place to start your exploration. Just a five minute walk from the campsite, the town boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Here you'll find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel which appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat also offers a variety of shopping including a weekly market on Fridays and a monthly producers market.

Nearby Station Park offers a  variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. Next to the campsite the Hammerlands Centre has a garden centre, cafe and fishery.

The town holds an annual walking festival in October and from the campsite you can access some of the finest hilwalking in the south of Scotland. Also close by is the Grey Mares Tail, a magnificent waterfalldropping 200ft from Loch Skene.

There are also a number of historic houses and castles in the area. Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci and has wonderful landscaped gardens and woods. Medieval  Caerlaverock Castle is located close to nearby  Dumfries.

Great site on the outskirts of a lovely town. Very easy to reach from the motorway.

Great site on the outskirts of a lovely town. Very easy to reach from the motorway. Pitches are well placed throughout the site. All facilities were spotlessly clean. My husband was taken ill during our stay & I cant thank Darren, Nicky & the rest of the staff for their help & support. We will definitely be visiting this site again.

Everyone associated with the site were extremely welcoming and helpful and the site was very clean and well organised. My only (small ) gripe was that the ladies washrooms area lacked the soft close on the door and through the night you could hear it banging closed when it was used. I'm sure this will have been remedied by now. The lovely town is only a very short walk away, it was great to be able to go for food and a drink and get to meet and chat with our fellow campers and the locals, it also made for a good mooch around on the Saturday, everyone was so friendly. Would loved to have had another nights stay on our journey back into England but a two nights stay was the minimum.
