Linger a while on this friendly campsite in southern Scotland.

Moffat is our Club campsite in the Scottish lowlands. It’s an ideal stopping off point for journeys through Scotland. This pretty Victorian Spa town is just three minutes off the M74. But Moffat is much more than just a pit stop, its idyllic location more than warrants a longer stay.

The 180-pitch Moffat campsite boasts a fine setting in a wide valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The well laid out site has a good range of well-placed facilities catering for all campers needs.

If you choose to linger a little longer in the area, the town of Moffat is a great place to start your exploration. Just a five minute walk from the campsite, the town boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Here you'll find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel which appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat also offers a variety of shopping including a weekly market on Fridays and a monthly producers market.

Nearby Station Park offers a  variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. Next to the campsite the Hammerlands Centre has a garden centre, cafe and fishery.

The town holds an annual walking festival in October and from the campsite you can access some of the finest hilwalking in the south of Scotland. Also close by is the Grey Mares Tail, a magnificent waterfalldropping 200ft from Loch Skene.

There are also a number of historic houses and castles in the area. Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci and has wonderful landscaped gardens and woods. Medieval  Caerlaverock Castle is located close to nearby  Dumfries.

Stayed for 3 nights on our way to Scotland, thought we had taken a wrong turning at first as so close to town, but when you enter the site it opens up facing the hills and you feel like your out in the countryside. This is a big site and very popular, there were lots of staff waiting to welcome us, our Lady was very helpful when allocating our pitch! Although it's a big site, it was peaceful and relaxing. Great facilities, plenty of showers and spotlessly clean. Ideal location for walking into Moffat which is minutes away, lots of pubs, shops and cafes with a big shopping outlet close by. Would definitely return.

I have stayed here before but I cannot understand why the rubbish bins are not at the outside of the site. Campers put the cans and bottles which is ok but not at 1 am in the Morning. The site is busy but no play area for the children so they run around the Vans which is not good. You never see the staff so I will not be returning

We returned to this site which we have visited many times.

We returned to this site which we have visited many times. It is a well-run site and all the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. When we arrived, we were shown which pitches were available and invited to choose the one that we wanted. We like the fact that the hard-standing pitches are level so no messing with chocks etc. The toilets are spotlessly clean and obviously checked, and cleaned if necessary, several times every day. The grass is kept cut and the whole site looks really good. It is only a few minutes walk from Moffat with a range of shops, pubs, coffee shops etc and the site staff have arranged for campers to get a discount in several places. Well be back because it is a site with staff who show that they really care.
