There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.

Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club Site. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.

This spacious campsite accommodates up to 75 units and has modern facilities including individual shower rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off-site, there are two large enclosed dog walks on site.

Tavistock, 2 ½ miles from the site, has world heritage status. It is a picturesque and ancient Stannary and market town with the beautiful River Tavy running through its centre. Whether you enjoy lovely cafes and shops or grand architecture and historical abbey ruins, it is well worth a visit.

Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hills and wooded valleys. The National Cycle Route number 27 (coast to coast Ilfracombe to Plymouth) passes 200 yards from the site.

A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.

The beautiful village of Sheepstor south-east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

We arrived at this site the day after the snow and wondered if we would be able to get there. We called ahead and were told it would be ok as it was melting fast. On arrival the welcome and information given was friendly and informative. In fact this site was excellent for cleanliness and friendliness. The shower facilities were very clean indeed and had your own toilet and washbasin with the shower. The location is beautiful and is very near Tavistock and just inside the Dartmoor National Park which is ideal for walking or cycling. The campsite is quiet and well maintained with plenty of information and maps. Highly recommend it we will use it again.

Peter, the site Manager, was very welcoming and always addressed me by name.

Peter, the site Manager, was very welcoming and always addressed me by name. Shower / toilet units were as large as my bathroom at home. Plugs in all basins / sinks. The night we spent was sub-zero temps & taps were frozen, but Peter made sure we had water & salt was applied to steps to Toilet block. All very impressive.

This was an excellent site on the edge of Dartmoor.

This was an excellent site on the edge of Dartmoor. It was a 2 mile walk into Tavistock over the moor on a single track road. When we walked back in a bitter wind we had the excellent shower block to look forward to. The facilities were lovely and warm and ensuite in nature (WC shower and basin) The only drawback was that the washing up facilities were open which proved to be a bit chilly this weekend. Darryn and Sarah were brilliant hosts, even giving us some bread from their own supply to rescue our bacon butties, as our bread was at home! We would have stayed longer but for the blizzard forecast but as Arnie says "we will be back"

What an excellent site, greeted by the owners helped us pitch our caravan and even helped put the awning up, us being newbies, the best shower blocks we have come across. This site is spotless all round I would thoroughly recommend to anyone. Very relaxing and peaceful.
