Due to winter road damage a stretch of the A379 main coast road from Strete is currently closed. Please use the A379 from the Torcross direction.

A family site with sea views and sandy and shingle beaches within walking distance.

Our Slapton Sands Club campsite has all the ingredients for the perfect family beach holiday. Located on the stunning South Devon Heritage Coast, our Slapton Sands campsite commands a quiet, rural setting. Lined by trees and flanked by rolling countryside, this is the place to sit back and enjoy the views - some pitches enjoy fabulous views over the bay.

The campsite is level and well set out with some hardstandings and plenty of grass pitches. There is a children’s play area, a parent and child room, washing up facilities and a short dog walk and the small on-site shop provides the basics.

Off-site there are plenty of coastal walks to enjoy including to Beesands and Hallsands. Slapton beach is a few minutes’ walk from the campsite. The shingle beach and clean, calm sea are ideal for families (dogs are welcome too) and water sport enthusiasts can enjoy surfing, windsurfing and canoeing.

The freshwater lagoon Slapton Ley is separated from the sea by Slapton beach and is set within a National Nature Reserve. The area is teeming with bird and wildlife. There are many walks and trails around the reserve.

To the north of Slapton Sands, the Blue Flag Award-winning Blackpool Sands awaits. Backed byevergreens and scented pines, this stretch of golden sands has a real mediterranean feel.

A bus stop a quarter of a mile from the campsite is on routes to Plymouth, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The latter is a wonderful medieval town with a lovely harbour, perfect for crabbing, and a castle.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Worth Noting

A maximum of eight caravans are allowed on site for members only. Please ignore the ‘Slapton 5 miles’ sign off the A381. Slapton village is unsuitable for large or towed units – follow route recommended on map.

Had a great stay at Slapton site. Have been camping here for 18 years on and off. Great location for South Devon although very narrow roads in places make getting out and about challenging. Wonderful site and the wardens do a brilliant job. My only gripe is that the wash block is very out of date and not fit for purpose any more. This is a popular site and 3 showers only in male and female sections is not enough with many queuing at busy times. Come on club managers! Many reviews are saying the same. Time to update the wash block facilities.

First time visit to this site on one of the hottest days of the summer. It's not the biggest site and was quite full but didn't feel over-crowded. The welcome was friendly and our pitch overlooked the sea (word of warning : if you're on pitch 2 Expect to share the grass with one of the wardens, who parks there!). Toilets and showers were spotless. Wonderful position with Slapton beach and the Ley a short downhill walk away (you can park right next to the beach if you prefer). The quaint village of Slapton is an even shorter (uphill) walk. It has two pubs, neither of which we tried. Kingsbridge is a short drive away as would be Dartmouth if the road wasn't still closed. There is a rather lovely farm shop and cafe in the nearby village of Stokenham. We will definitely return!

Having been to this site for over 30 years we are totally disgusted that the facilities have still not been upgraded after all this time. Then to find out that they intend to put a further 18 hard standing pitches that will make the site look like a car park.it seems that the club favour motor homes over and above tents etc.

Nice site, short 10 min walk to a shingle beach or lake/nature reserve, beach is shingle and shelves quite steeply into sea, no good for paddling, road has been washed away between Slapton and Dartmouth so had to drive a long way round to get to it. Car park at site end of beach has no toilets Torrcross end has and pub/shops, cant take wide vehicles through Slapton village.
