Galmpton Touring Park occupies a stunning location overlooking the River Dart, surrounded by beautiful Devonshire countryside. Three miles upstream from Dartmouth, the park is on the edge of the village of Galmpton, with a local pub, butchers and village store. Central to Brixham and Torquay and close to the historic towns of Totnes & Dartmouth. Frequent bus service within walking distance, plus ferry services and a steam train a short walk from the park. The 122 pitches, suitable for caravans, motorhomes and tents, are set in 10 acres of peaceful countryside on grass or hard standing, with or without electric, terraced to provide level pitches. Also service pitches with electric, fresh water & grey waste for extra luxury. We also have the Sail Loft 3-bedroom newly renovated holiday let (sleeps 6). On-site facilities include a toilet / shower block, pot wash and laundry-room. Play area for smaller children, table tennis and a small park shop serving fresh coffee and local ice-creams. WIFI available. The local area provides a huge variety of activities for all ages from sandy beaches and coastal walks to vintage steam trains and historic castles.

Our pitch was unlevel in both directions and even on full height levellers still unlevel.

This review is for Galmpton Touring Park

Our pitch was unlevel in both directions and even on full height levellers still unlevel. Expensive low quality. Would not use site again. Our fully serviced pitch was not only unlevel but grey waste could not drain direct from motorhome as drain was uphill. The unlevel pitch despite being on top level of our levelling blocks resulted in waking up with a headache after 2 nights sleeping with my head lower than my feet. Despite booking as a 7mtr motorhome with trailer, on arrival we were forced by friendly staff to locate trailer sideways to the rear of our narrow sloping hardstanding pitch making it difficult to remove and park our very heavy motorcycle due to having to exit rear of trailer directly onto soft wet/red muddy dead grass. The toilet/shower block was located at highest point of site and our pitch was at the lowest on a narrow ungraded gravel road. The facilities were old and shabby and the site is generally awkward and not very well thought out or maintained. This wasn't helped by the poor weather we experienced during our stay, which due to the difficulties siting our unit made us feel trapped and unable to travel out in the motorhome during bad weather, because re-siting on return in rain or/and darkness would require time and effort that just wasn't worth the hassle, so we had one decent day out on the bike and left a day early as using the motorhome to travel out was too much hassle. Galmpton/Paignton/Brixham area wasn't to our tastes, but a trip across the river to Dartmouth and beyond proved to be a lovely area worth visiting with some lovely beaches, so if/when we return it will be to the Dartmouth side of river where the available sites were so much nicer and not full of ungraded gravel and red mud. The only real positive about the site is the expansive views across the river from some pitches

If we return to the area we will use this campsite again.

If we return to the area we will use this campsite again. The staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. The toilet block is kept spotless, even when the campsite was full. The showers were always hot. The views are fantastic as you are on a hill, however this means it can get a little windy, so take extra tent pegs. The visiting pizza van is not to be missed - good price and made in an wood burning oven- shame they only visit once a week. The small play area kept my children happy. There is also enough space to play field games (not football to avoid caravan damages).

First time on this site and certainly the last very nice site and lovely views but what a rip off site, beware of all the extras that you pay for. 3 per night for awning if you fit an annex to your awning 1-50 per night child over 3 3 per night dog 2 per night, extra car 3 per night and I can not believe that you have to be off site on your day of departure at 10-o clock prompt. If you pay 5 you can stop on till 12- O-clock, when I questioned this decision of having to be off site for 10am I was told that it was to enable the grass on your pitch to be cut which takes all of 5 minutes I then questioned why you could stop on till 12am if you paid 5 If you are a couple with a family it can prove to be an expensive holiday.

We rang for availability only the day before we arrived, so they invited us to come and check the pitch before committing. The hillside location overlooking the Dart means that some pitches are not perfectly level, but that is not a problem and more than compensated for by the wonderful views. We were welcomed on arrival and taken to our pitch. The member of staff could not have been more helpful, advising us on location and giving us plenty of detail about the site and nearby walks for the dog. We had been advised we must stay 3 nights as it was BH weekend, but that fitted our plans. Spent a wonderful day at nearby Greenways (Agatha Christie's home - National Trust) which was walkable from the site. Our second full day was a series of journeys - bus, boat and steam train to visit Kingsweare and Dartmouth. I have given the site 5 stars, which is a rare treat. We loved the location and the helpfulness. We will visit again.
