Absolutely nothing wrong with this site except for us it was way too big.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this site except for us it was way too big. Although its called Windermere its much closer to Kendal, its 9 miles to Windermere and less than 4 to Kendal. I used my own shower in caravan except on our last night and shower was cold. I wanted to purchase WIFI but couldnt get a signal even though WiFi dish was right near our caravan. We did ask (if possible) not to be near childrens play area and last spot available when we arrived was right near childrens play area. If only parents would supervise as requested. The map for directions taken from the Camping and Caravaning website gave incorrect road number and when we finally arrived we were told yes they already knew that, but it hadnt been updated yet, didnt help us though. We did have some lovely outings. The staff worked amazingly well to organise such a large site.

By far the best C&CC site we have stayed on, very friendly and helpful staff with no "dictators" if you park 1cm out of line!! Very clean and peaceful. Good access from there to the area. One piece of well meant constructive criticism, please put a left pointing arrow on the site sign on Ashes Lane so it's obvious at the fork in the road that you need to go left, it's no fun with a caravan if you go right and have to go around again. All in all a great site.

Transfered here by Camping Club as Kendal not open for campers on time for our road trip up to Scotland. Very busy, children playing football around tents and blowing bubbles which are not good for canvas tents, litter on pitches, This is a very big site and not for every one, Toilets etc clean and tidy. They are not keen on campers who do not want and electric hook up unless they are small backpack type tents which have a special area. The best thing about it was walking to Stavely and having lunch in an excelent little cafe called ELCEC in the Stavely antique center, recomed thier Lentil Dahl.

Arrived at reception and was greeted by 2 lovely ladies who were very polite and helpful. Shown to our pitch by and equally cheery lady on her bicycle ( nice calf ink by the way). Shown where to pitch our tent and given directions to toilet/shower blocks, water point and rubbish bins. Ideal site for getting around 10 minutes to Kendal with the usual shops, 10 minutes to Bowness on windermere for more tourist type things to do. Our first time on a Camping and Caravanning Club Site, considering joining as we have the camping bug, even bought a bigger better tent whilst we were there.
