The surrounding area

Our Kendal Club campsite is ideally located for those who enjoy walking and cycling. The hills and peaks of the southern Lake District are on the doorstep while the Yorkshire Dales National Park is around a 30 minute drive away.

Windermere is around nine miles from Kendal campsite. Here you can board a steamer, launch a boat, windsurf or canoe. Back on land the World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness on Windermere offers the chance to meet Peter Rabbit and his friends. On the western shores the National Trust owned woodlands, Claife Heights, is great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting.

Ambleside at the northern tip of the lake is the starting point for the challenging Wansfell, the Langdales and other mountain. You can also walk to Stock Ghyll Force from the centre of the town. Pretty Grasmere is worth a visit. Treat yourself to some of Sarah Nelson’s famous gingerbread. You’ll find the Grasmere Gingerbread shop tucked away in the corner of the churchyard.

with friendly staff and excellent facilities. Narrow entrance off main road. Suggest a pathway from top pitches to facility block/ play area to save walking over grass. Will certainly stay again
