Ideal for tent campers and handy for Scafell Pike, Wastwater & Eskdale cycle trail.

Our Eskdale Club campsite is nestled in the beautiful Eskdale Valley in the Lake District.

The area is a paradise for walkers and so Eskdale campsite is well equipped for tent campers, backpackers and cycle campers. Motorhomes are also welcome.

Modern heated facilities include a drying room, showers, washing machine and a well-stocked shop. The campsite also has ten camping pods and a camping barn sleeping up to eight if you fancy glamping or want to camp as a group.

Boot is within walking distance of the campsite with dog-friendly pubs and a station for the seven-mile Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, which passes through the Eskdale Valley. Scafell Pike is easily accessed from the campsite, but if that is a little too ambitious more gentle walks take in Stanley Ghyll Falls and Burnmoor Tarn.

For days out go to Muncaster Castle and the World Owl Centre or enjoy the amazing mountain scenery of the Hardknott and Wrynose Pass.

Fully equipped Camping Barn - £135 per night
Camping Pods - £43.75 per night

Stayed here for eight nights during august.

This review is for Eskdale

Stayed here for eight nights during august. The most important thing which I can't stress enough is don't follow your satnav to reach this site. My satnav (Garmin) was determined to take me over hardknott pass which my 1.2 corsa wouldn't have been able to handle with a full load. Hardknott pass is a single track road up the side of a mountain with hairpin bends and a 30% climb which believe me is quite a climb. Best thing to do is buy a paper map and just follow the main roads to the site. Site had great facilities toilets and showers were always kept clean with plenty of hot water. Shop was well stocked. Sold pretty much all the basics and more. The site was quite packed whilst we were there but after 10pm the site was in complete silence which was lovely. My only complaint is that our last two nights a group with three tents all with dogs and kids pitched very close to our tent. Their dogs and kids were free to run around and do as they pleased and the parents were pretty much leaning against our tent where they were sat. We really felt our privacy was invaded which wasn't nice. The eight nights we stayed here we never ran out of things to do. We walked to the waterfall near by visited keswick, windermere, wastwater and buttermere which were lovely. The woolpack a couple of miles down the road from the campsite is nice and friendly. They also sell great food and booze. Kirkstone & honister pass are worth driving through with breathtaking scenery and if you are feeling really brave and your car is up to it. Take a trip up hardknott pass during the evening when there is hardly anybody about I managed to make it to the top in 1st gear all the way.

This is the best club site we have been on. It's location is stunning and facilities are really fab. Had a very peaceful stay apart from the last night when some late arrivers lacked consideration for other campers. Great holiday

Enjoyable ride on mini train to Ravenglass by the estuary. Shop on site was well stocked for most things. Two rotary lines available including pegs for when your walking clothes get soaked/muddy and the washing machine is needed.

I would definitely recommend this site for all, very peaceful and clean.

I would definitely recommend this site for all, very peaceful and clean. The owners take great pride in the site!! Green fields despite all the wet weather! Far away from the holiday crowds but close enough to civilisation. I used the site as a base to get some walking done whilst the wife and kids explored the local area. Good pubs, visit to the local mill in Boot is a must, there is an excellent safari park approx 1 hour drive away. Excellent location to reach Scafell from in addition to a number of other peaks such as Harter Fell. Burnmoor Tarn is picturesque as a wild camping area with amazing scenery. Hard Nott fort is nearby, with Coniston being just a short drive also. Definitely recommend, and will no doubt return again in the future.

“We have just stayed in the camping barn at Eskdale with two daughters and four grandchildren. It is a superb facility with virtually all the equipment you could want and plenty of electric points. The camp beds are good too. The site is lovely , and was quiet even though packed and full of families with children. The views are wonderful and the station for the steam train to the coast at Ravenglass is a ten minute walk away. The wardens at the site were extremely helpful and friendly, and the shop is very well stocked. The loo facilities seem new and are very clean. ”
