Ideal for tent campers and handy for Scafell Pike, Wastwater & Eskdale cycle trail.

Our Eskdale Club campsite is nestled in the beautiful Eskdale Valley in the Lake District.

The area is a paradise for walkers and so Eskdale campsite is well equipped for tent campers, backpackers and cycle campers. Motorhomes are also welcome.

Modern heated facilities include a drying room, showers, washing machine and a well-stocked shop. The campsite also has ten camping pods and a camping barn sleeping up to eight if you fancy glamping or want to camp as a group.

Boot is within walking distance of the campsite with dog-friendly pubs and a station for the seven-mile Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, which passes through the Eskdale Valley. Scafell Pike is easily accessed from the campsite, but if that is a little too ambitious more gentle walks take in Stanley Ghyll Falls and Burnmoor Tarn.

For days out go to Muncaster Castle and the World Owl Centre or enjoy the amazing mountain scenery of the Hardknott and Wrynose Pass.

Fully equipped Camping Barn - £140.00 per night

Arrived in dark one hour ahead of severe storm and during a period of relentless rainfall that flooded many lakeland areas. Martyn warmly welcomed us giving clear and important advice on where to hook-up van. During our stay Martyn regularly checked on us and ensured new arrivals could be safely accommodated on site. He also knocked together several short wood planks to make us a wheel ramp so our van was level. We observed throughout our stay his attention to the wellbeing of all his campers and at the same time managed to maintain a high standard of site facilities. Well done!

We really enjoyed our stay, we were blessed with a dry stay even in October, having planned certain walks which we achieved, we are now planning a return to the site to do walks from the site. The shop is carefully stocked. The drive in was challenging and I wouldn't recommend anything bigger then a VW camper down the mountain passes. My only worry would be the number of showers etc in the summer, but we plan to return in October again. We are pleased we couldn't get in at the NT site at Wasdale and wouldn't contemplate anywhere else for the western side of the Lakes.

The fantastic staff really helped us out by rescuing one of our party broke down on the pass , they couldn't be any friendlier. The site is lovely and clean with a fab ,well stocked shop with tea and coffee making facilities. The local pubs are really good too for food and local ale, it's going to be an annual trip destination for our group . Highly recommended.

Stayed for 3 nights.

Stayed for 3 nights. The site is really pretty, immaculately kept and the facilities spotlessly clean. Had two days walking, one strenuous walk (for us) to Barnmoor Tarn and one more leisurely along the Esk river taking in the Stanley Ghyll waterfall. We got a map for the walks from the site shop. Both walks are straight from the site so no need to drive at all. Had our two dogs with us who thoroughly enjoyed themselves too. The railway station for the little steam train is only a level 10 minute stroll from the site but we didn't have time to try the train, maybe next time. We ate out each night as there are 3 pubs within a 10 minute walk all serving good food and all welcoming dogs. Everybody we met in the area was very welcoming and friendly. We decided that as we were not towing and in a VW California campervan we would attempt the Wrynose and Hardknott passes - what an adventure!! We are still not sure if we enjoyed it or if we are just extremely happy to have survived! However the scenery was spectacular and we shall certainly never forget it - we did go home the long way round though not wishing to chance our luck a second time!

“We have just stayed in the camping barn at Eskdale with two daughters and four grandchildren. It is a superb facility with virtually all the equipment you could want and plenty of electric points. The camp beds are good too. The site is lovely , and was quiet even though packed and full of families with children. The views are wonderful and the station for the steam train to the coast at Ravenglass is a ten minute walk away. The wardens at the site were extremely helpful and friendly, and the shop is very well stocked. The loo facilities seem new and are very clean. ”
