Pitch on the shores of Lake Windermere and explore the southern Lakes from this site.

Braithwaite Fold campsite sits on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere in the heart of the beautiful Lake District and is a stone’s throw from the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere.

Pitch here and you won’t be short of things to do. For starters you can enjoy the many attractions of the lake right from the campsite. Enjoy a steam cruise or have a go at dinghy sailing, power boating or windsurfing. Meet Peter Rabbit and friends at the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.

Catch the chain ferry to the western shore for the National Trust’s Claife Heights, ideal for walking and cycling, the pretty village of Hawkshead - home to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter once lived - and Grizedale Forest Park with its Go Ape high wire adventure area.

Fell Foot Park at the lake’s southern tip is perfect for picnics and paddling. Near here you’ll also find the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway and the Lakes Aquarium.

Worth Noting

Due to site restrictions only one car per pitch is allowed at any time and no boats are allowed on trailers. Drive-away awnings cannot be accommodated on most pitches – please contact site. All service pitches are hardstanding and rock pegs required. Poor TV reception.

We just love this area and the campsite.

This review is for Braithwaite Fold

We just love this area and the campsite.it is quiet, peaceful but not too remote to walk into the nearby town.Lots to do in the area from hiking, sightseeing, shopping and some good public houses within walking distance. The site itself is only a small site so can be easily maintained. The toilets/showers are fine as well. The staff have changed this year.We remember the managers from Keswick. They are more friendly now, don't think they could handle the pressure of Keswick CCC Site,so good changes all round.I would highly recommend this site.

This was our first stay on a Camping and Caravan Club site and what a great standard of site.

This was our first stay on a Camping and Caravan Club site and what a great standard of site. After a friendly greeting we were shown to our pitch and the wardens worked really hard to keep the site the way it is. Great information but and dog friendly. Loved the dog hooks by the dishwashing area and toilets. The shower and toilet block was warm with hot showers and always clean. The site is in a great location to walk into Bowness and not far to venture into the rest of the Lakes and a five minute walk to the little car ferry to the other side of Windermere which is a lot quicker if you want to drive to Hawkshead. Enjoyed our stay and we will be back. What a great start to our adventures with the club.

Easy to book over the phone with a friendly chat with the warden. Very welcoming.

Easy to book over the phone with a friendly chat with the warden. Very welcoming. Clean site with excellent wash and toilet facilities. Very clean and tidy. The pitches for caravans or motorhomes are quite close together. Although we did not use an awning it would have been tight to keep onto the gravel pitch area. Warden let us move pitches when we could not get a decent TV signal. A 10 min walk to the town and its ferry terminal and bus stops.Very picturesque scenery around the whole area. Bowness is a nice town with some decent pubs and restaurants plus excellent buses to other towns (Bus Pass!!) I can recommend this site wholeheartedly
