First the good bits. It is very close to LegoLand and quite level. There are two unisex toilets and two unisex showers together with a small washing up area. These are clean but basic. The site is mainly grass with a gravel base, it can be muddy but you don't sink in and we used a 7.5m Motorhome with no problem. The site has a small playground which was big enough to keep a 5 year old happy for a couple of hours in the evening. If you are going to LegoLand ignore the brown signs and follow your Sat Nav. Following the signs is 10 miles and takes 1 hours because all the traffic is doing this. Sat Nav route is 4 miles and took 10 minutes in our Motorhome ! There is a petrol station adjacent which sells basic food etc. Now the bit that may put a few people off. In practice this is two sites a normal 5 van CS for members and a 20 van site which is used by workmen from a local construction site. Most of the workman have large double axle tourers and company 4x4 pickups. First impressions are that you have arrived at a travellers site which is a bit off putting. In fact the guys are a great bunch and we were assured that if we did get stuck (there had been a few days torrential rain when we arrived) they would be glad to tow us out. We were offered free loan of extra long EHU cables if we needed them. The workers share the facilities with the CS but the timings meant there was never a queue. The two sites are clearly defined but a few workers were using the CS area and we ended up amongst their semi permanent vans.

My second visit. Actually did not miss the shower or loo.

My second visit. Actually did not miss the shower or loo. We have both in the caravan and so no problem for us. Owners are friendly helpful people. I wouldn't stay here as a holiday itself but because it is so close to Windsor and all attractions including a day out in London. Handy for me to visit family. I shall be staying again.

This review is for Queens Acre Caravan & Camp Site

Reading previous reports, they are now over a year old, but it would seem that little has changed, certainly no improvements, if anything the impression was of a site being run down. Young saplings and shrubs planted around the field had either died or were dying. Areas where grass had grown, this was more on the edge of the site where most people camp, was well overdue for cutting. The ground itself has a very high gravel content making inserting pegs almost impossible. Thin wire and plastic pegs are a No No. No change with the toilets and shower in the shipping container and the four wash basins are small hand wash size ones. The Elsan disposal was a toilet bowl sunk in the ground with a washing-up bowl as a lid but there was no means to flush it! A tap with a short hose by the grey water disposal point was marked for washing out toilets but this was too far from the Elsan to use as a flush. Yes, the adjacent road is very busy but the noise from that and the petrol station was not a major problem, nor was the background hum of the M4. Overall the condition and facilities of the site are not what one would expect for 20 pounds a night. Unfortunately there is not any other Club CS’s in the immediate area to offer price competition. This site has some good points such as easy access through to the camping field, a very friendly welcome, plenty of electric hook ups, your own personal picnic bench and is close to Windsor, Legoland, Dorny Lake (2012 Olympic Rowing venue), River Thames etc. One point to note on the access, as long as the owner knows you are coming the gates nearest the road will be open, otherwise if your car and caravan exceeds 12 meters then the rear of the caravan will be blocking the busy road while you open the gates.
