There is a real focus on exploring the local culture and traditions of this area with several trips organised throughout the winter period for members to enjoy local fiestas, celebrations and places of interest. There are cycle and walking routes in the nearby hills with many members also particularly fond of the coastal area for its gentle, flat cycle and walking itineraries through the farmland, almond and orange groves.

Monmar is particularly well-suited for motorhomes, with the shops in close proximity to the site, and at nearby Nules station you can also benefit from train travel. Members also enjoy the advantage of the higher-amperage 10A pitches. Around Easter, the campsite and local area become much busier with Spanish families and celebrations locally can continue well into the night. Excursions are usually arranged by the site owner during this period to the Easter festival in Nules. That said, there is plenty more going on in the region, especially the Fallas festivals of Saint Joseph in March, the amazing Fallas in the regional capital of València being the big highlight. Here huge effigies, usually colourfully grotesque caricatures that have been a year in the making, are paraded through this beautiful city over four days amid great festivity, until they are filled with fireworks and set alight – all bar one, voted by the public to be saved. València with its historic centre, the jaw-dropping architecture of the modern City of Arts and Sciences and the world-famous Lladró porcelain is a short drive away. The inland area of the Castellón province includes the most beautiful towns of the Valencia region.

Local transport (2018):  Buses from Moncofa Playa to Moncofa Town, Nules, Burriana, Almazora and Castellón (return to Moncofa town only, not Moncofa Playa); Nules, 5 miles (train station with direct connections to Castellón and València). Car hire (delivered to site).

Pitches:

Total pitches: 167. Touring pitches are flat, all gravel, approx. 70m² (max unit length 8.5m) , all with 10A electricity, water and drainage, plus 1 cold water dish-washing sink shared between 2 pitches.
