Overview

The surrounding region is fascinating and has not yet been overrun by the tourist invasion.

A site with high quality facilities, situated in a quiet town and with owners and staff who look after campers exceptionally well. There is a real focus on exploring the local culture and traditions of this area with several trips organised throughout the winter period for members to enjoy local fiestas, celebrations and places of interest. There are cycle and walking routes in the nearby hills with many members also particularly fond of the coastal area for its gentle, flat cycle and walking itineraries through the farmland, almond and orange groves.

Monmar is particularly well-suited for motorhomes, with the shops in close proximity to the site, and at nearby Nules station you can also benefit from train travel. Members also enjoy the advantage of the higher-amperage 10A pitches. Around Easter, the campsite and local area become much busier with Spanish families and celebrations can continue well into the night. Excursions are usually arranged by the site owner during this period to the Easter festival in Nules. That said, there is plenty more going on in the region, especially the Fallas festivals of Saint Joseph in March, the amazing Fallas in the regional capital of València being the big highlight. Here huge effigies, usually colourfully grotesque caricatures that have been a year in the making, are paraded through this beautiful city over four days amid great festivity, until they are filled with fireworks and set alight – all bar one, voted by the public to be saved. València with its historic centre, the jaw-dropping architecture of the modern City of Arts and Sciences and the world-famous Lladró porcelain is a short drive away.

This is a brilliant site, the staff are never too busy to offer help or advice and are always working to keep everything perfect. We were not with the rally - the split is probably 60% rally and 30% independent travellers. The Rally seems to keep very much to itself and has its own section. The pitches are all of a really good size, we had 10amp electric and there is a fresh water, grey waste and washing up sink shared by every 2 pitches. Plenty of room on pitches for car, caravan and awning. The C&CC pitches seemed smaller - many of them had an extra pitch for their cars, so caravans had a pitch and a half for the price of one which is amazingly good value :). There is plenty to do in the area in terms of walking and cycling. Although quiet in the beach area there are several cafes open daily. For those who are looking for the more built up touristy site with plenty of shops and entertainment its probably as little quiet. Fabulous site, would not hesitate to visit again.

This was our first time in Spain with our caravan so unsure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised, our welcome greeting by the stewards Dawn & Steve was second to none, the first thing we were offered was a welcome cup of coffee. We were given a choice of pitches for our stay. All facilities on the site were perfect, and any activities that were offered were left up to you whether to join in or not. We had booked for 25 nights but decided before our time was up to extend for a further 2 weeks which Dawn arranged for us. Our first time there has made our minds up to return again next December. The only 2 things I will comment on are the Xmas lunch which like many others we found rather expensive for the amount we had, and why did they decide to put up a new Wi Fi mast as the old one was working perfectly unlike the problems incurred with the new one. I will give this site 10/10 and hope to meet some of the friends we made on our next visit.

The site was much improved to our visit last year, being tidier and cleaner. Access to pitches can be challenging if towing a long unit. Easy cycle routes to the supermarket, beaches and local bars/cafes.
