Located in the stunning grounds of historic Westport House

Amid County Mayo's wonderful scenery on Ireland's west coast themed route, the Wild Atlantic Way, Westport is a great destination in a great location.  The stunning scenery of Achill Island and Connemara make for terrific day trips, and the campsite suits almost any kind of camper, being great for relaxing or exploring, for low-season tourers or family holidays. With 30 rooms open and six exhibitions on, Westport House offers a fascinating visit and pretty Westport town is a 20 minute stroll away, or you can take your bikes and cycle on the dedicated path from the estate, linking to 26 miles of the Great Western Greenway. Westport was voted Best Place To Live In Ireland in 2012, and you can find live music in town in the evening (including ex-Chieftains musician Matt Molloy's pub), and food onsite in Gracy's Café and Bar. The site is just one element of the Westport House estate - there's also a Pirate Adventure Park and Activity Centre (payable) providing hours of family fun, while the beautiful grounds of this historic country house offer acres of space and quiet. Locally there are blue-flag beaches, restaurants, traditional pubs, outdoor pursuits and much more! Watersports enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice, with kayaking, stand-up paddle and coasteering being just some of the activities available at Clew Bay.

The entire Westport House estate is family owned and run.

We camp here each year and love the range of things for families available on site in a gorgeous heritage setting. Old school rides and attractions, adventure activities, birds of prey demonstrations and a stunning historic home. Westport is a vibrant town with tons to do....bring bikes for the 26mile great western greenway, climb croagh patrick and head for one of the many blue flag beaches. Achill and north mayo are lovely day trips and Connemara is only 40 mins away. Great restaurant on site and lots of options at the quay or in town too.

Great base for enjoying the coast and scenery.

This review is for Westport House

Great base for enjoying the coast and scenery. Achill Island (accessible by a good road) is a must. Westport Quay and town are attractive and an easy walk, with plenty of restaurants, bars and supermarkets. A shame the services are not as good as they should be. Facilities are clean, but there was no hot water to personal sinks, push-button showers flow for only 5 seconds, and no on-site laundry. There's inadequate lighting after dark, and poor to non-existent wifi is only available on part of the site. On complaining about this, the initial response ranged from unhelpful to hostile, but another assistant kindly gave me a different pitch subsequently.
