We really enjoyed our stay at this site, on the edge of Corcieux village.

This review is for Au Clos de la Chaume

We really enjoyed our stay at this site, on the edge of Corcieux village. It is spacious and well laid out; we were able to choose a peaceful pitch with good shade from surrounding trees and hedges, where we especially enjoyed the birdsong - from dawn to dusk! The English/speaking owners were extremely welcoming and helpful. The site toilet, shower and laundry facilities were quite up to the standard we would wish, and though we only used it once, the swimming pool (covered) seemed fine The village is about a 10-minute walk, or a 2-minute cycle (on a straight flat road), with several excellent bakeries, a small but adequate supermarket, and also an extremely helpful garage, where they very obligingly made time to check and replace a faulty water pump in our vehicle. My basic French, adequate for basic food shopping, was not really up to this situation, so the campsite owners were also very helpful with translation. There also looked to be some nice cafes in the village, though we didnt really have an opportunity to visit these. The camp site sells ice-cream, but encourages guests to use the village facilities for other shopping and catering. There is a tourist information office in Corcieux, with English speaking staff, who provided us with advice on places to visit, and maps etc for local walks and cycle routes along the lanes and tracks that run through the surrounding farmland and wooded hills. We were lucky enough to see a red squirrel on one such walk! We also explored further afield, across the scenic Vosges mountains, into the Alsace Lorraine region about an hours drive- another fascinating area to visit, and one to which we would really like to return and spend more time. Neighbours on the camp site said they had spent a very good day in Strasbourg, travelling by local bus and train, something else we would have liked to do, had time permitted.

This site was everything we had been hoping for.

This review is for Au Clos de la Chaume

This site was everything we had been hoping for. This was our first three week holiday and we were looking for somewhere to stay for the whole period and allow us to explore the Alsace Lorraine region. This site was perfect. It was clean and well kept and the owners could not have been more attentive and helpful. It was the perfect location for us to explore as far afield as Strasbourg, Colmar, Nancy and we even ventured for day trips into Freiburg in Germany and Basel in Switzerland. Driving in such spectacular surroundings was a pleasure as was visiting some of the towns along the Alsace Wine Route. We can particularly recommend Riquewihr for a visit and wine tasting too! The local town, although quiet, is very pleasant and has an excellent bakery and a couple of nice bars. If you enjoy walking, then there are some nice walks into the local countryside from the site, who also provide route maps to follow. All in all a great stay. A big thank you to the owners.

Good points: Good sized pitches. Lovely stream and path in the woods.

This review is for Au Clos de la Chaume

Good points: Good sized pitches. Lovely stream and path in the woods. Area with a pond where at night bats fly low over your head. Covered pool so good if it rains. Good for forest walks etc Bad points: Power cable only just reached. Units could be closer than 6 meters. Unisex toilets not for everyone. Didn't find good food options in local town.
