Overview

An extremely popular site, with a well-deserved reputation for quality

Great for... a late summer holiday when the weather is still good and the roads and beaches are quiet. You’ll be extremely well looked after by the Rally Stewards, site owners and their friendly staff. A great rally on a top-class site, with a great function room and lots to do. Explore the inland Vendée too, with canals, châteaux and picturesque gardens amongst its hidden treasures.

Rally Stewards will be Chris and Gill Steel.

Typical activities (subject to demand) have previously included cheese and wine parties, bring and share parties, craft mornings, lots of on-site activities such as crazy golf, local excursions, boules and evening meals in the site restaurant.

The site traditionally arranges an end-of-season fancy dress party. This is a very popular event which is great fun. Many Club members like to know the theme for the party in advance, as they like to take an appropriate costume with them. For 2019 the theme is 'Tales and characters from childhood stories'.

Location

Parkland setting in the grounds of a château, with four lakes, 8 miles from nearest beach. Les Sables d’Olonne 11 miles, La Roche-sur-Yon 17 miles, Puy du Fou 56 miles.

Local transport (2018): Train station in La Mothe Achard 5 miles.

Pitches

Very well-maintained and very spacious, open and part-shaded pitches all with 16A electricity. Rally pitches are located together, near to facilities – some non-rally units may also be in this area during the rally period. Specific pitch requests must be made at the time of booking and cannot be guaranteed. Members are also requested not to arrive before the rally start date, as many rally pitches are still occupied.

This was our third year because it is very friendly site owned by a caring family.

This was our third year because it is very friendly site owned by a caring family. Each of the rallies have been fun with no pressure to partake in all of the activities, some provided by the site itself others organised by the Gill and Chris the rally stewards. The site is only a short distance from the Atlantic coast with wonderful beaches.

Stayed for the whole rally had a fabulous time meeting some people from previous rallies, and making new friends. Gill and Chris put a lot of effort into making this rally so good. All the ralliers were friendly and we loved the boules in the afternoons if you wanted to play. Fabulous fancy dress party at the end of the rally laid on by the campsite for all as well as the ralliers. We enjoyed it so much we are definitely going back for more.

Only our second rally on the continent but we have enjoyed both.

Only our second rally on the continent but we have enjoyed both. The atmosphere on the site is welcoming. We had a great time and met many new friends. The stewards Bob and Heather were ideal for the role helpful, organised and able ensure we had a good time. The site itself is lovely not too far from the coast, with plenty of good walks and lots of other activities available on site. The owners of the site are themselves helpful and put themselves out to ensure everyone enjoys there stay.

Our 4th C&C Club rally (all of which have been excellent).

This review is for La Garangeoire Rally

Our 4th C&C Club rally (all of which have been excellent). Bob & Heather the Rally Stewards were always on hand to help (even repairing a puncture on the weekly cycle ride!) and their contribution made our stay so enjoyable. Events were organised every day which you could choose whether or not to participate. Excellent site is very much in the country being a mile from the nearest public transport, shop/bar etc so you will need some means of transport from the site. Excellent cycling country with quiet roads and an extensive network of cycle tracks. Went to the evening show at Puy du Fou which was excellent and again, many thanks to Bob & Heather for making it so. With regard to the site, it has excellent facilities with some of the largest pitches we've encountered and each one screened from the next. Immaculate toilet blocks (only complaint is that the automatic lights didn't stay on long enough, however on the plus side, the rainfall type showers, stayed on until you turned them off - no having to push your back against the tap to keep the water flowing!). Another minor complaint is that the shop was very low on stock (I realise that it was end of season but it appeared to be part of a chain so no excuse). However these very minor niggles shouldn't detract from what is an excellent, well managed, friendly site. We used the cycle hire and again, received some excellent information from Steve, the cycle hire man. Would thoroughly recommend if you need to hire bikes. The walk around the estate organised and run by Ana the site owner, was excellent and we would thoroughly recommend to give you much more information not just about the site but also the history of the Vendee.
