Set on an island between the river Rhône and the Rhône canal.

This relaxing, well-maintained, modern Provençal site makes a convenient base for a terrific area rich in scenery and history. There's medieval Villeneuve, beautiful Avignon with its Pope's Palace, the famous vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and breathtaking Roman sites such as the amphitheatre at Orange and the Pont du Gard aqueduct. Easy day trips include Van Gogh's Arles, the Camargue, the Ardèche, majestic Mont Ventoux and Provence's lavender-scented hills and gorges. In springtime, don't miss the bizarre source at Fontaine de Vaucluse, where the fully formed river Vaucluse rises straight out of the ground.

Cycling enthusiasts will know the area well from it's numerous appearances in the Tour de France. For those brave enough, the well-ridden steep gradient of Mont Ventoux awaits!

Owned by the Campéole group of sites.

I was very upset set at the reception so rude, than to be told everything on site was shut and 6mils to a shop it says the site is open until Nov.we didn't go near the reception again. I think these sites need a check the brocher and reality don't match.

Large Commercial site, part of the Campeole group.

This review is for L'Ile des Papes

Large Commercial site, part of the Campeole group. Situated on an island between two channels of the Rhone, close to the Barrage de Villeneuve (Dam). Site has a mix of Touring pitches, statics and pre-erected tents. There were three different areas for tourers and tents, we were on the area furthest from reception. The pitches here were mainly dirt and stones with very little grass. Other areas had more grass. We had some afternoon shade on our pitch. Toilet & shower facilities were modern and well maintained. No seats on toliets, and paper was on large rolls outside the cubicles. There were several dotted about the site. Bread and croissants available from the site restaurant each morning. Nice pool with separate kids area with fountains etc. There is entertainment (disco or similar) most nights in the bar, with music till midnight, which could disturb you. This was usually advertised by staff touring the site on golf buggies with loud speaker. I can imagine that the noise of the water coming through the sluices in the dam could be annoying if you were at that end of the site. The site is nicely situated close to Avignon and its attractions. There is an hourly bus to Avignon from the site gates (check timetable, doesnt run at lunch time) which is useful as parking in Avignon fills quickly! Yes there was noise from cicadas, but any inland site this far south you will get them.

We booked the site with friends quite a few months ago to ensure we had pitches next to each other. after the long two day drive, we arrived to be told by reception that a French motorhome had parked on one of our pitches but we could have the pitches either side! Or, we could find two other pitches next to each other somewhere else, which we did but on a less attractive part of the site. The camp is quite remote with nothing else around for some 6km and wifi is quite expensive. And no one advertises that the cicadas are noisy from 0900 to 2100 and can drive you nuts!!!! Coupled with the football pitch/playarea in the middle of the site, the dam and the cicadas, its not a quiet place. Very very underwhelming!!!
