Overview

Perfectly situated for visiting lovely Sarlat and all the western Dordogne

Great for... discovering all that is best in this fascinating region, from the world-famous prehistoric sites, such as Lascaux II, where you can see a recreation of the underground caves and their prehistoric drawings, to the cliff side dwellings, some having been occupied until fairly recently. The region is famous too for its wines and local specialties, such as foie gras and confit de canard. As a bonus this high quality site is located in a beautiful riverside location close to the clifftop château of Montfort. An excellent site, with a friendly reception and English spoken, in a lovely location for rallying and exploring. River beach and canoe hire at the entrance to the site.

Rally Stewards will be Sam and Judith Blackhurst.

Typical activities have previously included games evenings, quiz nights, wine and cheese nights, boules, meals on site, barbecues, walks, excursions to some of the many famous prehistoric sites; boat trips down the river Dordogne, passing by classic picture postcard villages, such as La Roque Gageac and Beynac, and a popular train ride excursion.

Lovely site, in a beautiful situation.

This review is for Soleil Plage Rally

Lovely site, in a beautiful situation. Stewards Sam and Judith gave us a friendly welcome and organised some excellent activities and trips, which we particularly appreciated as the weather was mixed. They worked hard to give us a most enjoyable rally.

Our first time rallying and Judith and Sam were perfect in their stewarding role.

Our first time rallying and Judith and Sam were perfect in their stewarding role. A lovely couple, so friendly but not pushy or overbearing. A warm welcome, and plenty of activities if we wished to participate, which we made good use of. Sam made a very fetching Dolly Dealer on Play Your Cards Right night, and Judith's craft morning was really enjoyable. We loved the trip to the biscuit factory. We met some lovely people and hope to see some of them again one day. A cracking holiday on a beautiful site in a stunning area. Just wish the sun shone a bit more but Judith and Sam had no control over the weather!

First visited this site 30 years ago with our young daughters, thought it was great then but wow it has got even better! We attended the club rally (our first).Great location right on the river, fabulous large grassy pitches with hedging. Rally stewards Judith and Sam were first class in welcome and looking after us. This is a well deserved five star site, facilities were outstanding and immaculate at all times, site staff were brilliant, attentive and polite. Can not understand why this site has only had one review? Maybe our fellow campers want to keep it secret? We have camped all over France in dozens of sites and this has got to be the best we have known for all round location, facilities and service. Roll on next year!!
