We arrived at 8pm having tried to contact the reception desk by telephone and email all day with no reply. We wanted to inform them of our late arrival and find out our allocated pitch, as we had already paid and booked in advance. When we arrived a member of staff said please choose any available pitch which is what we did as the site was very empty. The next day we went to reception and found out that we had accidentally upgraded ourselves to a better pitch but we were told that somebody had paid and booked onto the same pitch and we would have to move. We therefore decided to leave a day earlier than planned and accepted that we would pay for an extra night at the next campsite and lose the money we had paid at Les Ranchisses because with 3 small children it would be too difficult to move our awning and kit. After speaking with the receptionist we settled on not having to pay for the upgraded pitch but we lost a night which was a shame as we absolutely loved the site. The pool area was amazing, the river and kayak area were beautiful and we enjoyed paddling about. We used the take away on the first night and the food was great. The restaurant looked wonderful too. A visit to Vallon du Pont was well worth it and one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The town of Largentire was beautiful too and worth a visit. Toilets and showers were excellent and very clean. A truly beautiful campsite in the heart of the Ardeche.

This really is a top quality Ardeche site set away from all the hot spots.

This really is a top quality Ardeche site set away from all the hot spots. We stayed for 11 nights by using the ASCI scheme low season discount offer, and if time allowed could have stayed longer. The site has 3 swimming pools, excellent bar and restaurant facilities. With entertainment in higher seasons.Even whilst we were there the site manager was making improvements. The site and pitches are wooded and deciding what is a pitch just take your time.A motor mover will be a must for some riversided pitches. Now a couple of cautions, when driving through Uzer which is the last village you drive through before Largetiere, there are a couple of speed ramps which are difficult to pick out and there are no "markings" I noticed the first but not the second, and this was driving slowly. The second is when in Largenteire just as you are leaving the village/town and the road colour changes colour you need to do a "dog leg" left to stay on the D5,do not carry straight on.The road markings make it confusing at the left turn.Site is 1.5 to 2 miles on the left. The only downside I could see is for motorhomers as attractions and villages need transport to get around.
