Best Campsites for Sailing
Sailing holidays are popular with families and couples alike, as they provide a perfect opportunity to work together and learn new skills. There are lots of sailing clubs near to our campsites that will cater for both novice and experienced sailors.
Whether you want to hire sailing yachts, dinghies or rowing boats, or you have your own boat to take with you, the campsites below will cater for your sailing needs.
St Neots Club Site
St Neots campsite sits on the banks of the River Ouse and has 180 pitches, many of which offering a riverside view. Sailing is available on the river itself, or if you prefer something smaller then there is a dedicated boating lake at the nearby St Neots Riverside Park. Boats can be hired by the day or by the hour and taster sessions or courses are available for first-time boaters. When you are tired from sailing the site is within strolling distance of a country pub, while a leisurely riverside walk brings you into the town of St Neots with a number of eateries and independent shops. If you want to travel a little further afield the historical city of Cambridge is just ten miles away.
Bala Club Site
Our picturesque Bala campsite is on the eastern edge of the Snowdonia National Park, just six miles from the lake it is named after. Bala Lake is one of the most popular sailing venues in the UK thanks to the south-westerly winds that make for excellent sailing conditions. The lake stages regular open racing events if you are already a keen sailor and looking for a holiday with a competitive edge, or there is a quieter cruising section for those who want to enjoy the scenery that the lake has to offer. Half-day sailing tasters are also available if you are new to sailing and need some help getting started. If you want a rest after all that sailing there are lots of sandy beaches in the area including Prestatyn, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Harlech, Barmouth, Fairbourne and Aberdovey.
Loch Ness Shores Club Site
This site offers much more than just the opportunity to spot the legendary Nessie! Located on the south shore of the loch, the campsite boasts 99 pitches offering panoramic loch views – and it is open year round, so there are no limits to your sailing adventures! Sailing yachts and canoes can be hired from a number of local sailing clubs for you to explore the waters of the loch, and there are professionals on hand to offer classes if you need someone to show you the ropes. If you are after a glamorous holiday in which to indulge your love of sailing then Loch Ness is the site for you.
