Windermere Site was our first introduction to caravanning in April 2007. It’s all we had hoped for and more. Now on our third visit in June 2007! - Barry and Yvonne Ingham

Kendal is close by. It has good restaurants and shopping facilities. It is also home to the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the Museum of Lakeland Life and the Kendal Museum.

The town of Windermere has the World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Lake District Visitor Centre.

The Aquarium of the Lakes show aquatic life from the river, lake, sea and bay.

Sizergh Castle is based on a 14th century Pelé tower, extended in Tudor times.

The Dale Way long distance footpath is a mile and a half from Site. Follow it into Windermere and take the train back to Staveley station.

Coniston lake is very beautiful. The Steam Yacht Gondola leaves from Coniston Pier or Brantwood jetty for a 45-minute tour.

Mountain Goat Tours transport visitors around several routes in the Lake District.

Take the car ferry from Bowness to the western Lakes.

Learn to cook at Lucy Cook’s Cookery School in Staveley. Day courses are available.

Holker Hall near Newby Bridge is open to the public, as are its spectacular gardens and the Lakeland Motor Museum.

Poet William Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage and grave are in Grasmere.

The Arts and Crafts House at Blackwell has much of its original 1900 interior.


Eat Local

There is a farm shop with a butchers and delicatessen at Plumbgarth.

Worth Noting

A £10 cash deposit is required for the barrier key, refunded on return. On site there is a Bar/Family Room which serves food and beverages in the evening (limited opening November-April), also included is a pool table and TV. Backpacker facility on site. Wireless internet access on this site.

Seperate disabled facilities The Club was working to improve accessibility of our Sites long before the Disability Discrimination Act came into force in 2004. We are committed to a continual programme of improvements through access audits to ensure our facilities are available to all.


Arrivals after 8pm are only permitted by prior arrangement direct with Holiday Site Managers.
