Social Camping
Social Camping is the name we give to the Meets and Temporary Holiday Sites run by our District Associations, Regions and Special Interest Sections. Held throughout the year and across the country, they offer great value camping in beautiful places and bring like-minded members together to enjoy a unique sense of community.
Meets
Meets offer thousands of opportunities each year for members to enjoy idyllic surrounds locally or further afield.
Offering minimum facilities, they normally take place over a weekend, but can last for up to five days. Members can stay for a night or the entire duration, with all fees going back into the Club to secure future events.
While some offer entertainment or are themed, the sole purpose of most Meets is to enjoy the peace and quiet in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Temporary Holiday Sites
Situated in popular holiday destinations, seaside resorts and countryside retreats, Temporary Holiday Sites offer members the chance to meet up and camp at affordable rates for between five and 28 days, with around 350 THSs taking place across the country every year.
An alternative to commercial campsites, they make use of land exclusively available to the Club and are stewarded by experienced members.
While the majority will have just basic facilities, others will offer toilets, showers and electrical hook ups. You can pitch for the night or the entire duration.
Non-members can stay in your unit for a small fee and can even join the Club on site.

What is Torchlight Festival of Camping?
In 1921 the Club launched the National Feast of Lanterns, our members end of season camping festival. As an event organised by member for members, its founding figures had a clear vision of what this promising new event should be. Plans were set for an uplifting celebration of the camping season and the chance to share memories and experiences of the great outdoors – the one place they all loved to be.
Now, a hundred years later, a new generation carry the torch and we have taken the opportunity to reinvigorate this special festival - inspiring more members to make memories of their own.

District Associations and Regions
A District Association (DA) is made up of members who operate on a voluntary basis to form a group; this group organises temporary camping events for up to 5 days (a Meet) or up to 28 days (a Temporary Holiday Site) usually with entertainment and activities planned. These events can be held anywhere in the UK, and members are welcome to attend any Meet, whether it’s organised by your own DA or a different DA elsewhere in the country.
Upon joining the Club you are automatically assigned to your local DA based on your home postcode, however, you can change this to whichever DA you wish to be registered with. Simply contact the Secretary of the District Association you would like to move to, and they will send you an Opting Form to complete.
About our Regions
The Club’s District Associations are grouped into 13 Regions, each covering Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Each Region organises a whole host of camping opportunities including Meets and Temporary Holiday Sites.
An elected representative from each Region, District Association and Special Interest Section sits on the Club’s National Council, the Club’s governing body of elected members who make the Club’s policy decisions on behalf of members.
